Agree, latest Total War :Empire- system rquirements are the same as for
HOI III.(1 GB XP, 2GB Vista, 256 mg graphic card).
Though I believe Total War eats RAM for graphical presentation more than processing game core variables, oposite to HOI III.That means that Total War hardly will benefit from 4 GB RAM,while I believe HOI III will benefit.

Sounds about right, Unfortunately I have 3GB ram, a 512mb Card but 1gb of the ram is shared with the card. I would switch it off but I don't even trust myself to go there. Plus it can be an advantage in some graphical intense games.

Johan, the CPU question is quite important. In HOI2, everyone experienced slowdowns beginning around 1942-1943. We had a long thread on this subject, and did thorough testing. We basically found the game screamed on a Quad Core, and was terribly slow on a P4.

HOI is an amazing game, but the slow downs really hurt our ability to play the end game.
HoI2 performance is rather irrelevant to HoI3. Completely different engine and all that. A lot of the stuff the CPU had to take on in HoI2 was foisted off onto the GPU for EU3/R/HoI3 because of the switch from 2D to 3D, among other things.

Understood it is a completely new engine. I just want to make sure PI considers testing late-game speed because that *was* the real measure of whether or not the CPU mattered.

How about OSX? As I know Paradox had some 3'rd party port their game to OSX and MAC users can get them from online store. Will there be any plan to HOI3 as well? :confused:I would love to play HOI3 on my iMac.:p

I have a 2.5 years old laptop, IIRC 900 euros (under a thousand anyway), that fits the requirements .... I wouldn't say these requirements are particularly harsh on the budget...

It is better that they change their mind and don't buy the game rather than buy a game with false advertising that will be unplayable. There is an old adage in sales that 1 happy customer may tell 3 people about their experience, but that 1 unhappy customer will directly and indirectly inform 31 people about their bad experience with the company.

In the era of the internet, this is probably even more extreme. Look at the huge outcry over Empire:Total War. Lots of folks who bought the game find it unplayable due to CTD, etc, etc. I'm not going to buy the game until I check back to see how thing are going in at least 6-12 months solely because of what I've read.

That deserves a separate forum, nevermind a separate thread.

I haven't agreed with every Paradox decision over the past year or two, but they've got a long way to go before they reach the sunken depths of CA.

2.0 vertex and pixel shaders.

Fir those of us who are still a bit slow in these sort of things, how do you know if you meet these requirements? DO you have to find the specs of my specific card or is this info on my system somewhere?

Thanks, I am sure that I can run the game I just want to know how to find this for the future. :)

if eu3 runs then you got 2.0 shaders.

any gforce card from 5xxx and above has it.. so you got to rob a museum to get one that doesnt work. (or get an intel integrated "graphicscard" )

If you worry so much over the graphical quality of the sprites slowing you down, use counters.

I'm sure I'll be able to run HOI3 with my PC.

Johan or someone mentioned that the counters are actually sprites too and actually use more memory than do the figurines.

EU3 works very vell on my 128mb Nvidia GEforce 8400M GS on dualcore Intel 2 giga, 3 giga DDRam LAPTOP... So i hope HOI3 will do the same, even if i don't have a 256mb video card....

These are very basic requirements... only a few people playing on older laptops might not be able to work with it.

Although trying to play games on a laptop anyway- you gotta expect not to get the same experience though I understand in the past only fps and rpg had very high sys requirements, now with game engines map sizes detail growing so huge even strategy games have some low requirements.
