This game is probably going to be boosting sales... A kick-start for the tech economy! That Ram with that OS and that GPU means you will most likely not be able to run it or not very well.

I mentioned in an earlier thread... I'm saving up for a new one! It's hard in this economy, though.I know there is a strange fondness for crappy machines among some on this forum, but please - let's move on! The future is here!![]()
Now because HOI3 uses 3D models instead of 2D sprites the graphics card will be put too work a lot more. Now the CPU can just do the computations and the models can displayed by the graphics card.
Hopefully the devs/alpha testers or one of the eventual beta testers will have one to test on. One person with an i7 is having a hard time getting EU3 to run right now (although there's no proof that the CPU is the problem so far). I expect this is one reason that your hardware is considered as part of the beta selection process.Think my i7 rig could run this game?![]()
Hmmm maybe I should sign up for the beta then, wouldn't be the first game I beta'd. I really hope this game will take advantage of multicore
Thank god my Laptop will murder the game...now watch it fail when it arrives
.
Specs?
T5750 @ 2.0GHZ, 3GB Ram and a Radeon 3650 Mobility. It will run any game at around High and it handles EU3 and Rome very well and due to the multi-core of Hoi3 it should handle it just as well.
Is that HP?
Mine's a T5800 @2.00GHz, 3GB Ram (Vista x86) - one of those blueray ones for like £400. nVidia 9200M GE.
I only mention it because despite my specs (which appear to be pretty good for a laptop), EU3 runs pretty sluggish - certainly compared to my quad core PC, which is currently FCUK'd (the chain of clothing shop, not the profanity).
It'd probably be faster with a few options off, but I've only played it on max at 1440x900.
I just hope HoI3 isn't too bad 'cus of the massive map... can't afford to repair the 'puter just yet...o

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched. Clock for clock the i7 isn't much faster than the C2D. And the i7 will ship with a slower clock at the same price point. The big difference the i7 brings to the table is two extra cores. But no Paradox game to date has been multi-threaded. If that continues your additional cores will sit idle.
On the other hand if Paradox can re-write the engine to take advantage of multiple cores, then they should have more than enough horsepower with a C2D to run all the logistics envisioned. Real time strat games are the most logical game genre to make use of multiple CPUs. It should happen. Now we'll just see if it does.
