System Requirements: 60 GB available space? [Edit: 25GB confirmed]

As per the reply from @HBS_Dagger on page 2, the system specs on all sites are incorrect as of now and hard drive space requirements will likely be 25 GB.

Am I reading this right? Was that always listed there?

By no means is this a bad thing, but that's more than....most any game in my Steam library, including AAA games with a reasonable amount of open-worldy'ness (say, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which despite the complaints was a pretty huge game).

I guess they weren't kidding in the last Q&A when they said: "the game is a lot bigger than we were expecting."

Sounds familiar to me... so, yeah, I think they've been saying that for a while now.

During the beta, I just made copies of the game for modding... part of the reason I'm working on making a mod manager to install/uninstall mods is that I don't want to have multiple copies of a 60GB game.

I imagine it's less than that on disk. 60 gb is the space required to allow the for decompression then gets cleaned up to something smaller.

I have multiple systems, all of which have at least 1TB hard drives... some of which have multiple 2TB hard drives... and I still run out of space.

It goes FAST when recording HD video.

I would put more trust in Paradox's requirements page.

UPDATE: According to HBS, the game looks to be closer to 25GB for release, but no final figure is available as of this update.

Generally speaking, it would be good news from a content standpoint if a game like this takes up more space. ie. big pew-pew particle effects, hi-res skins, audio files and so on.

Yeah, seeing the Paradox System-Req page, a typo sounds likely as a game that might have cost $4 million to make would ending up being that large is...not what I would expect.

I'm now thinking that they're both wrong and it comes in at 25 GB of space needed to install.

I'll be really impressed if they actually generated enough 'stuff' as an indie studio to where you actually need 60 GB. I don't even know, but maybe it would mean a huge amount of voice acting - I can't think of what it would be.

I would have thought that too. I think CmdrDunsail has the right idea though.

It's better to ask for clarification than it is to make assumptions and possibly be wildly off.

We definitely need some clarification, but spitballing, it seems like neither 11 GB nor 60 GB makes a lot of sense for the final game based on that figure. I mean, 5 extra GB for THE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN GAME? That just sounds precarious.
