I ran some performance graphs while playing CK2 after about 200 or so years, so things got really populated. I wanted to get a read on the cpu peformance, and it seems lower than I expected. Only running on 3 cores. 2 at 25%, 1 at 75+%. The other 3 were parked or sleeping, due to bios power save settings.

I also noticed that when I ran on fastest speed in CK2, the GPU usage I had spiked to 80% for a second or two then dropped, then went back up. It seems the Clausewitz engine is dumping some kind of calculation to the GPU, and the faster speed tends to exacerbate the data transmission and processing requirements.

This reminded me of those high GPU requirements in Stellaris. The V or video ram my gpu was using, R9 270 2 gigabyte GDDR5, was around 750 mb, up from 115mb baseline.

My question is, does anyone else who have played Crusader Kings 2, notice that their gpus are helping the engine calculate things and if so, what hardware cpu/gpu were you using?

I want to check if laptops using integrated chipsets use more cpu core processing from those laptops people seem to like using for games.

Also, anyone know what specifically the gpu is being made to calculate for Clausewitz in Ck2?

I'm testing and researching this subject due to some of the issues brought up for the min requirements of Stellaris Clausewitz engine. Some people asked certain questions which I thought was interesting to look up on. I don't play HOI3 or EUIV, so can't interpret the results for them, but data on the graphs for those games at highest speed might also be interesting to see.
