Not sure if this is a bug or intended, but, as a xenophobic, materialist empire, I can no longer give synths full citizenship, even with all synth tech researched and citizen rights policy selected. The game simply says that they are "too alien" despite being handmade by my empire. This was not the case pre-update. My xenophobe-materialist-pacifist run is kinda kneecapped as a result of this, as I also can't disable migration controls for synths - the option just isn't there - which is giving my egalitarian faction a -10 percent approval modifier as well as a -10 happiness for all synth pops as I can only give them residence.

I was hoping this would be changed in the patch, but alas... It doesn't make sense for Synths made in the image of their creators to be considered 'too alien.' This goes doubly for if the empire utilises Synthetic Ascension and has the very same Synthetic bodies as these apparently alien constructs.

Hopefully this is just an oversight and will be resolved soon. It does rather ruin the way my favourite empire functions.

Wait, if you run synthetic ascension as a xenophobe, you still end up hating non-ascended synths?

That's... highly specific fantastic racism there.

In previous patches, changing my "default species rights" to full citizenship before synth ascention usually did the trick and they ended up as full citizens. Maybe the same could apply here, if you set your default rights to full citizenship, it might apply to the synths once you research them?

I know, it totally does my head in. They are considered as being alien since they are Synthetics who didn't start as organics, even though the ascended Synthetics use the exact same bodies. Game play wise, I think it would be easier to just roll the non-Synthetically Ascended Synthetics into the new Ascended Synthetics and have them just be a single species.

In previous patches, changing my "default species rights" to full citizenship before synth ascention usually did the trick and they ended up as full citizens. Maybe the same could apply here, if you set your default rights to full citizenship, it might apply to the synths once you research them?

Pre-expansion, I always set Synthetic rights to full citizenship as soon as I researched Synthetics. Currently you can not change the policy regarding Synthetics until you have researched them (which has been that way for some time, if I recall correctly), and even before Synthetic Ascension 'robots' can not be set to full citizenship despite changing the policy to emancipate them if one has Xenophobe ethics since the latest expansion dropped. Xenophobe ethics hard lock you out of accepting anything that is not your primary species as deserving of citizen rights. I could accept that for Fanatic Xenophobe, but for 'regular' Xenophobes it seems a bit much.
