Has anyone seen any reviews for SOTS2? Usually they're out at release or even before, but I haven't seen anything for this game. I'm very interested in seeing how the gaming press receives this game, but honestly I'm just not seeing -any- press at all. Can anyone help me here?

The press has not received any copies from Paradox from what I understand.Of course there is nothing sinister about that at all.

Yes you can. It's been released and it's being sold as is. You have to review it as it is now. Waiting until monday for the first big patch though is entirely acceptable though, they held back for Elemental too.

Well no, all I'm saying is that it's okay to delay reviews past the monday patch. But not much more than that. I mean it's shady that they release the game like this and don't send out review copies, but if they don't do it next (this?) week, then something's definitely up.

I would say that any reviewer that was worth their salt would take a look at the current situation and say that they just could not review the game at the moment because it really isn't finished, even if they are selling it. There is obviously a very good and probably even a great game hidden in there, but since the game basically won't even run without frequent game ending crashes and many of the features necessary to actually play enough to get a good feel for the game play and balance don't work (scrapping ships, launching drones, creating provinces, Hiver gates), a review just isn't possible. Sure, someone could give it a cursory 1 or 2 and a rousing "ha ha", but any self respecting reviewer would feel bad about that because there is obviously so much more there. I think that reviewers may produce a few snarks, but most will wait until the game is reviewable. IMHO.

Because a 20 metacritic score is not good for business? The game is not finished and would be slaughtered in reviews.

If it's a good title, it might still get a good score even despite the bugs. There just needs to be something decent behind the CTDs.

I suppose so; but that's on Kerberos/Paradox really.

I guess we'll be waiting for a while for those reviews then! Whenever they may come out.

It's released! There's absolutely no reason whatsoever for SotS II to NOT get a fair review (4/10 ?). Game is on the market, it's reviewer's duty (lol?) to let the public know about the state of the game.

You mean to tell me that 10+million steam users that see Sword of the Stars II on their steam homepage ain't being duped right now? In fact extend that argument to the hole PC commercial industry? Kerberos Productions you have repeated the same monumental mistake as your first game. I'm sorry to say but with every fact so far, there is no way to avoid what is coming.

I chose not to pre-order and wait for reviews first after i bought mount and blade fire and sword pre-ordered and received a turd. I waited on Hoi3 and after its state on release I still never picked it up even when it went on sale... Happy I waited, picked up sots 1 complete for $5 and it its been very fun.

Back on topic, the reviews for the game SHOULD be awful. It's released and people are buying it, people should be warned what they're getting into.

Gamers Gate is not allowing reviews on SotS 2 currently for some reason.

And "this game is not completed" is a perfectly valid review. The company should have thought about that before selling an incomplete beta as a release version.

One more thing and i'm done here, if the game wasn't ready they should have just said so. An honest letter or something just stating what's going on and that it will be another 3-6 months to launch. Then released this as an open beta so get a sneak peak for those who pre-ordered. I was interested in picking this game up and would have been fine waiting. Done.

Personally I would rather they waited on reviews until they patched it up a bit. I want GOOD reviews. I want MORE players to buy the game. I want a company that makes games of a genre that I like to actually PROSPER.

Yeah, just selling this as (rebated or even not) beta would have avoided so many problems and anger, it's really shocking they didn't go for it.

Well if the devs don't give out Review copies then most reviewers don't make a habit of going out and buying them. So that should answer your question instead of arguing over why they are not reviewing it. Big boys don't buy games. EVER.
