Now that the mods have to be adapted to the new features and map, I wanted to bring up to discussion this issue: if demesne represent the /extension/ of territory a ruler can efectively administrate without resorting to delegation of power (vassals) shouldn't demesne sizes be higher in SWMH than in vanilla, to take in account that provinces are way smaller?

Take as an example the slow gain of royal power in france, along with the progresive gain in royal demesne, specially by the gain of the game period. While by theaend game in vanilla, with a high enough legalism, an emperor of france could rule over some 10 counties, the same amount in the modded map count for a way smaller land.

It is something you have already discussed (I assume so). In such case, what was the rationale behind the actual decision? And lastly, if there has already been a discussion of this, could you guide me to it?

Many thanks, for your attention to this post and for the effort you put in this wonderfull mod

That makes sense, but the game's balance is around a certain demesne size. Is it worth screwing that up/fixing it again just to give characters a proper size of "land"? I don't think so.

This was discussed within the team, but privately, so unfortunately we can not forward you to the discussion.

The main issue here is that this mod (SWMH) has its clear scope and doesn't want to overextend to an area which is modded in other mods, especially in other HIP mods. And this is exactly the area where we would have to edit files which we consider beyond the scope of SWMH.

Oh, I understand. But now that you speak of other mods in HIP, are (or ever have) Meneth, Ordep, or other relevant modders outside SWMH) considered this very same question?
I unnderstand that this is pretty much a petty issue, and should be pretty low-priority, specially if it upsets the balance, (and posibly part of the already done history research). Mind, I'm just curious about the issue, not directly requesting for its implementation.

Frankly, I don't know, but if so, we didn't add that many provinces to make this really such a big issue. I think that demesne size should not increase by more than 1 for the base and possibly another one for the highest tiers.

I think it is fine. Increasing the demesne by one for everybody would really upset the balance as it would make counts much more powerful.

Also, I see it so that what would only be qualifying as barons in vanilla now qualifies as a count with vassals of his own, meaning that the demesne does not really deserve an increase.

If anything, not increasing the demesne nerfs both the blobs as well as the vassals a little bit which is quite welcome.
