Some games and mods remove or nerf Switzerland.

Hearts of Oak 2:

Removing Switzerland from the game was considered to provide more balanced gameplay in Free Historical Mod:

Their Finest Bruh uses the generic focus tree and not SWI's new focus tree:

Some games do not allow Switzerland as a playable nation.

For example, Red Baron Games does not allow Switzerland (and many other nations) to be playable nor invaded:

Ok, I understand the basic fact - but why is it done? Since in one case the generic tree is used, the reaons might lay in the individual focus tree. But what is exactly problematic about it? Another potential reason I see is that an AI-led Switzerland is prone to leave the path of neutrality (it got confirmed as not intended here https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-allies-and-enters-their-war-v1-12-5.1555555/ and was even tackled with the patch 1.12.7, but the fix might not work: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/switzerland-joining-the-allies.1563027/ ) and maybe completely removing their focus tree prevents that (a generic does not, as Switzerland joined the war even before BBA arrived)

The reason is it's an ahistorical nation to include in actual conflict, and the Swiss Gold Trade focuses provides incredible buffs to either axis or allies, which can unbalance the game depending on which is chosen

Swiss is nerfed in MP communities for game balance and reduce lag.

Good summary!

Thank you for the explanation.

"Game balance and reduce lag" should be kept in mind when designing nations.

(I hope our HoI4 Community Ambassador(s?) are reading this. ;) )

Probably due the tons of problemns they cause when they join the late war(1944+) (i don't know the chances of this on last patch).
Suddenly germany get oponent sitting on mountains next to their 2nd main industrial zones.
Also if allies(UK,USA) is sucedding on normandy landings, the AI SWZ joining in 1944 spoil lots of territories ahead of them..

its really kinda trollish, its like a small version of "Alien atack" cheat in hoi2.

Swiss trolls?

I've heard about the "Gnomes of Zurich".

But those loathsome, rubbery, trolls of Switzerland.

<Shudder!>

Do they really effect lag that much?

Im always looking for a way to get rid of late game lag
Each country's AI and each country's divisions all cause lag that adds up. Some mods just completely delete all of Central and South America and Tibet/Bhutan, and remove focus trees and/or give spirits that prevent doing anything for historically annexed or neutral countries in the area of war like the Low Countries, Switzerland, Turkey, Sweden, and the Baltic States.

I've seen one mod a long time ago that decided to try to be funny and consolidated the Baltic States into one named "Free Real Estate" and consolidated the low countries into a single nation named "Speed Bump" along with half of the world being replaced with a single country called "Neutrality Land" that had no manpower or industry to lag the game.

Does it make the map look ridiculous? Yes.

Does it speed up the game a lot? Also yes.
