Switching sides?

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but can we take charge of any empire at the load game screen?

For example I play for 200 years as one Empire, and then at the load save screen, I decide to jump ship and take over the role as leader of a different empire, say one that has just discovered FTL?

You can do this in EU4 & CK2. Is this option available in Stallaris?

since its in CK II and EU IV (probably even HoI) i woud be suprised if its not possible

If I recall correctly, there's no political galaxy map preview (unlike past PDS games) when loading save file from the title menu. Based on that, I'd say NO.

However, it will be easy to tag swap via console command after you've loaded your game.
