Little question...

I'm about to lose around 100 years of game play (that is, 3 provinces :)) because I'm about to be overran by the French, at the very hard level. So I'm asking you, if I switch to the Normal level before loading my saved game, will the AI be still as strong as he were before I quit, or will he perform at the level I put him? And if, following the war, I want to get the AI back to its previous level, is it still possible?

Thanks in advance.

YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!

I didn't even needed to do this... At the exact moment when I reloaded the game, England (together with Netherlands and Scotland) declared war to France; the 4 armies of about 20,000 men each that were going towards me changed direction and went to Calais instead; with my remaining 25,000 men, I was able to retake Munster, and then settled for peace, giving the French 250 ducats (and, more importantly, taking back Cologne and Oldenburg). Even though the loan will cost me a lot of money, I've been lucky as hell... Damn! All that, in no more than 3 or 4 minutes... Yihoo!!! :)

Spread the joy.

PS: Now that the French are occupied with England at the north, I could maybe take France by surprise and try to take Holland... NOT! :D

:p

:) Reloading will often start new wars, as it is the one moment where all nations get to make an action. Later on in the game they will 'fall asleep' more and more often, so some advocate saving and reloading game at intervals to keep them AIs working.

Of course you should go for Holland :D (But you might wait a year to rebuild first;))

Definitely. My soldiers looked like tourists when I tried to siege Holland. :D

I wonder; given France's exceptionnal start, can it be faced with BB wars? If not, then I have to start worrying...

is France fully formed? if it is then you should definitely wait before starting another war with them

In EU1 France is always fully formed, unless you count Calais ;)

It still has to take, in 1492, Calais, Artois, Alsace, Lorraine, Franche-Comté, Savoie, and 1 or 2 province(s) at the southern border with Spain.

In my game, it has done that, plus Bohemia, Holland, Zealand, Ansbach and another one... And the great generals will be coming in a few years, while I'm stuck with the 1-0-1 general Rhein (!?!)...

That is a shame. It is always boring when you are stucked with some lousy 1-0-1 general

Except for a monarch during a few years (he obviously disappeared when the war started to be painful), I haven't had a good leader. You have to expect it when you play with minors, though...

It adds a bit to the challenge... :)
