It blows my mind that people are asking for more complications in a game that is already grotesquely overengineered, a situation made worse (if that's possible) by the current beta (What TF is an "Edict Fund"? Why TF is an "Edict Fund?). The trade system, as it is, is functional, if a bit boring. The devs should be looking for ways to mercilessly pare the game mechanics to a level finally commensurate with their ability to program a working AI, not looking for excuses to overelaborate them further.

I willfully refuse to be an unpaid project manager for Stellaris!
Paradox pays people to do all the work done by people arguing that this is a bad idea because it would take dev time, and ultimately, the output of the studio is up to them. For my time, I'm going to keep dreaming and discussing a thousand unrelated ways in which I feel the game could be better.

I get it, there are things you'd prefer. I often want those things as well.

The one thing I don't want, however, is for the game to get simpler. A lot of what I believe the game needs is more depth. Depth that doesn't boil down to build alloys or build research.

True, right now several of the game's problems boil down to the fact that it's too simple: you want research and alloys, everything else is trivia.

I'd like it better if there were actual trade-offs which needed to be balanced.
