Is it possible for a character to switch his/her main religion to another that uses different game mechanics without using cheat? Sometimes a character gets his liege changed to a totally different religious group in his early 20s and it would take a long time for someone with the opposing religion inheriting the position. The councilor position Chancellor might remain empty for decades due to this as well.
I've seen spymaster converting you to his religion and Chancellor convincing you to change to another religion, so is it possible by these events that you get to have your religion switched to another main religion beliefs?
