The entire Swiss Focus tree is utter garbage! I cannot see why they chose to give Switzerland content, a country that did absolutely nothing during the entirety of the first half of the century. They could have reworked Austria which was a lot more relevant and wouldnt create a whole lot of issues. The mechanic where countries just transfer states is absurd. It ruins any type of gameplay for other countries unless youre fast enough of get lucky.
I hope Austria gets some content down the line (reforming the HRE here we go!), but otherwise I mostly disagree. I can't say anything about the focus tree itself though, as I haven't had the time to try it.
For one, Switzerland did tons of interesting stuff during this
entire period, and there's also a lot more that could have happened. However, without content, nothing fun would ever happen there.
Meanwhile Austria only has 2 years of game-time on historical, and surely the issues caused by allowing them to deviate would be far greater than for the Swiss. Like, taking the Anschluss into account, a wild Austria could potentially break the game in all kinds of directions.
I guess what I'm trying to say is they're both in a similar boat of needing content to be fun, I just disagree with your reasoning behind saying Austria would have been better.
