At this rate if every region gets its own face packs, I wonder who will just be left with the vanilla faces?
Hehe. Yeah. But I don't predict German, Frankish, Norman or English characters getting different faces. I would rate Hungarian, Polish and Bohemian as highly unlikely.

However, I wonder how characters of mixed origin would look like. If I have a Swedish dad and Russian mom, will I inherit only one of my parents potrait pack or will there be a combination of two?

It's alpha, fine, but am I the only one who thinks the faces on that screenshot look awful?
Hmm yeah accually when you mention it in that perticular screenshot they do look a bit like corpses.

Because the Mediterranean faces seen on the other screenshots from The Republic really don't look better - in fact, the "Swedish" one seems like a serious improvement compared to the others next to it if you check The Republic screenshots...
I can't agree with this, i actually think that the mediterranean ones look really good. The scandinavian ones on the other hand need some work imho.
On a somewhat unrelated note.... Was there even such a thing as swedish culture in 1066? I thought they were all Norse
You are not that wrong, the process of forming separate scandinavian identities was still very much in its infancy in 1066, but since clear differences developed during the CK2 timeline i don't blame PI at all for splitting the cultures up from the start. They have to try and find a representation that will be acceptable throughout the game, you know

I don't think portraits can combine. Clothing based on culture might, but not genetics. The closest that comes to it is when an African and white couple produces an "Arab"-skinned child. Clever little thing, if a bit over simplified.
Well yeah, there wasn't much difference in the spoken languages in Denmark & Sweden atleast, not entirely certain about Norwey, but they'd probably have been able to talk to each other without too much trouble.

Still extremely easy to read norwegian, but I must admit I have some trouble understanding norwegians from up north, and some of the Swedish i just don't understand at all.

Haha, it's funny I live in northern sweden and it's q uite the opposite for me. I have issues with the language when they come from the southern parts of norway but the northern part I can understand perfectly fine

The two sources are books one is "National identity in the Polish-German borderlands" 1990 and the second is "Polnische Siegelkunde" 1966. Take it as you will
