Sweden Runs Out Of Garbage: Only 1% Ends Up In Landfills

In fact, Sweden has become so good at recycling their waste, the country now has to import 800,000 tons of trash each year from the U.K., Italy, Ireland and Norway to keep their Waste-To-Energy plants up and running.​

Now I'm in a quandary. On the one hand, I'd love my Skylines cities to handle garbage more realistically (they currently produce far more garbage than they should and recycle not at all).

On the other hand, the thought of importing waste to power my incinerators makes me picture queues of backed up garbage trucks leading to the horizon in every direction (Skylines' garbage trucks currently carry orders of magnitude less than they should).

Oh, for the best of both worlds!

There is a realistic recycling plant that I use. You can find it in the 'Workshop' in assets while in the main menu. It's slightly less efficient than the incinerator, doesn't produce electricity, but on the other hand it collects and gets rid of garbage without any pollution.

It'd be interesting if there was a recycling center in game that not only eliminates garbage with minimal pollution, but also produces raw materials that can be shipped out or used in local factories. Those raw materials would be plastic, aluminum, paper, etc. It could even reduce the number of trucks needed to import raw materials from elsewhere.
