Anyone know where there is an English (or if nothing else a German) website about these three computer games? I would like to be able to see some more screenshots, and perhaps buy I and/or II (since III is not out yet) with a credit card and have it shipped to me here in the US.

Is this possible? There is nothing on the Paradox website about Svea Rike III in english. And I cant even seem to find any link on there to a Swedish explanation and screenshots or anything. Anyway the games sound very interesting to me and I was thinking that playing Svea Rike II, albeit in Swedish so i will be totally confused, might help me while away the time till an English version of EU comes out. Anyway Svea Rike III looked cool too, and I was interested to see how they dealt with warfare in the earlier feudal period so I would really like to see any more screenshots and read any english or german reviews.

SR 1&2 were only made in swedish (and maybe in some other nordic language) so I doubt there are any english websites, There is a VERY short summary in english here: http://www.korkeken.se/

Here are 3 screenshots: http://www10.torget.se/home/testat/test_svearike2.html
Can't help you as to where to order it.

SR I & II were based on the boardgame Svea Rika. In the computergame you controll one noble family in Sweden. The goal is to collect a many 'honour' points as you can get by for example win wars (against Denmark, Poland, Russia and HRE), collect money, take over land, hire famous people etc.

The weak point of the game IMHO are the battles. It's like playing Tic-Tac-Toe against a moron. Otherwise the games are rather fun.

Agree, a rather ok game but with a very booring batle sytem and no good way to avoid it.

Svea Rike I & II, have nothing with EU to do. Paradox have after how well they did decided to use the name Svea Rike for all theirs game on Swedish/Scandinavian history. Svea Rike III has has nothing more with Svea Rike I & II to do than that they are historical games.

I don't know how many remember Håtunaleken but it was a blast. Someone should convert that gem to computer :). Maybe SRIII is the closest I'll get though.

Actually Håtunaleken was what got me into war/strategy gaming in the first place.

(for those non Swedes, Håtunaleken was a game based on a real event(called the same) in the 14th century. Basically it was a fight between 3 brothers about the heir to the crown. It ended up with 2 of them thrown into jail and the key thrown into the river. Some say they ended up eating on eachother.

It's kinda like the game Kingmaker. I loved playing and reading about those noble families.

The main problem with Svearike part I is that it is to childish.
Trust me on this one Count_M, you don´t want to buy it.

And as other already have written, the problem with part II are the battles.
The one with superior artillery always winn the battle.

Is that so in Svearike 2 and 3 too?
Cuz I have tried the Svearike1 demo and all I had to do to win the battle was to construct as much artillery as possible and use all the spare change on soldiers.
Thats one of the things that made that game suck. So if its like that in the other games as well I recommend everyone to not buy it.
And I think that all the Svearike games are only published in Swedish.

Svea Rike II is just a sligthly improved version of I. Svea Rike III is a entirely different matter, using the EU engine. The game is not released until November 6 but it looks promising.

I loved the game Kingmaker as a kid. It was great. Friends and I played a great deal. If only their were a comuter version of that coming out as well as EU. Perhaps that should be the EU2. I suppose many would cry foul over that.......But what the hell!

Wow I looked on that underdogs site and its a treasure trove. I found some old games I had really wanted to buy when they came out but missed. Along with Kingmaker there is a game called Medieval Lords you might want to take a look at, its got primitive graphics, but it looks like its got the spirit of a EU type game.

That was a nice game but had a big problem, you best and fastes way to win was to arrange one (or a few) feasts 'Gästabud', at wich you would have a great chande to kill your rivals, so you realy had little use for the fun strategic part.

I suspect SV III may be better in that regard.

Janbalk.

True but we had some 'house' rules that made it more difficult.

It also reminds me that Alga was much better in the old days. Now they only release childish crap games. The graphics on the boards are also much worse today.

Where did classics like Taktik and Marinattack go? :)
