Surviving the Aftermath Xbox

I am currently trying out Surviving the Aftermath on the Xbox One X, but I seem to run into a problem when I try to use the mouse and Keyboard, the menu across the bottom of the screen vanishes as soon as I touch my keyboard and everything across the top also vanishes, so I have a full screen of the area with nothing else on screen, also when this happens my mouse does not do anything other than stay along the horizontal line of the centre of the screen and all I can is turn and not move, I have to restart the game each time I try to use Mouse and Keyboard. Any help would be grateful as I would love to buy the early access and using a Controller on the console for this type of game is a no go for myself.
