Water Towers + Pipe Valves: What the heck is going on??

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1101569

Do you have Space Race installed?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
PC config:
- Motherboard: Asus Z390
- GPU: GTX 1080
- RAM: 32 GB
- CPU: Intel i5 8600k

Please help me. My dome never has enough water supply and it's getting really stressful. I keep having this issue despite multiple full water tanks, 2 moisture vaporizers, and 1 water extractor being attached to the dome.

Initially, I noticed the message saying the extractor wasn't at peak productivity because of demand. I saw a post on the forums saying to fix this problem by adding water towers. 5-6 towers later, I was still getting messages saying my dome wasn't producing enough water for my farms (1 farm, 1 hydroponic, 1 fungal). Thought it because I set up something wrong, so I even started a whole new game.

In the new game, I set up 1 extractor with several towers before getting colonists, along with pipe valves (another forum suggestion). I meant to allow the extractor to fill the towers, then cut it off so that water would only pull from individual tanks and eliminate the issue with water supply. That doesn't seem to work either because unless all the valves and extractor are on, the dome doesn't even recognize being connected to a water supply.

How can I fix this?

Can you replicate the issue?
Build any water tower + extractor and/or pipe valves

That's a different issue than yours, extractors only produce water on demand. That won't give you any notifications though.

If you click on the life-support icon in the infobar (top bar), it'll show grids in different colours, make sure all your water producers are on the same grid as your dome?

Thanks for your reply.

I do realize the extractors only produce to demand, just couldn't understand why they weren't meeting demand, hence the water towers.

I looked at the life support bar on the new save game and everything appears to be on the same grid (blue) when I turn on all the valves.

Everything is in white on the grid in the old save game.

There is no bug. You are just not managing your pipe valves or water extractor correctly.

A pipe valve will block any water or oxygen getting past it, you have alot placed it some odd locations including directly next to the extractor. Its closed so no water can get out of the extractor to anywhere else in your pipe network. In another save you have all the pipe valves open but you turned off the water extractor.

The game is working perfectly. If you need further help understanding the mechanics then perhaps some of the tutorials could help or some Youtube videos etc, or post on the regular forums looking for advice.

And this is exactly why I didn't want to post here--unneccesarily condescending non-advice and unrelated critique about placement?? Doesn't matter if it works, and you actually can have towers right next to your extractor. And I really love how you assume I didn't look on youtube or other places for help even though I clearly said I did. Reading is fundamental.

Support specifically told me to post here to get help, thanks. Some of my valves are turned off because I wanted to control the supply by tower DUH. Asking for help doesn't mean I'm incapable of understanding things...like?? Who are you trying to one-up?

But nevermind, you're the the type of neck beard who probably gets his rocks off talking down online cuz they're not a functional adult IRL. Away with you.

There is no need to be so rude to someone who was just trying to help you, quite politely in my opinion.

You are welcome to open a new thread if you feel you can confine yourself to constructive and polite language.
