Steam

What is your game version?
1007783

Do you have Space Race installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have no radio selected from the previous game. I'm starting the new game. Instead of silence I hear the music theme from the main menu. Only after I click on the radio button, the main menu music stop playing.

Can you replicate the issue?

I wanted to bring to your attention a bug that has been present in Surviving Mars for over two years now. When starting a new game, the main menu theme plays in a loop, instead of changing to the Mars radio as it did previously.

While this may seem like a minor issue, it can become quite frustrating when playing the game for an extended period of time. I was wondering if there are any plans to fix this bug in a future update?

When I started a new colony on my iMac just now, the music changed to Revelation Radio automatically even before the rocket landed.

I can't explain why you alone (apparently) are experiencing this.

All I can think of to suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/{large number}/
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- manually delete both the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND ~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/ folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or Application Support SM locations, before installing again.

Good luck!

I'm afraid that this issue isn't unique to me. As evidence, here's a video (
) and other YouTube videos demonstrating the main menu theme looping. Sadly, I can't verify the issue personally as I'm unable to run the game on my M1.

Well, if it's not unique to you but also not ubiquitous, there must be some other factor in play. Hard to guess what it might be!

Was that example above also on MacOS, BTW?

Can you test your copy of the game on any other computer you might have access to, whether MacOS or Windows?
