Surviving Mars opens quite happily, but fails a few seconds after choosing "New Game"

I'm running Monterey Beta 7 - this _could_ be the cause on an intel Mac

I'm afraid this is a current bug in the game, which is affecting some Mac users - but not all!

It is under investigation, and will hopefully be fixed in the next patch or two.

Meantime some users report that reducing the game's graphics settings, or disabling Vsync in the game, has got past it for them. Please try that!

Well, setting everything to "Low" and disabling vsync did the trick.

now to reload mods and try again.

Nope, with mods I get stopped again.
bare game goes in to playable.
gotta figure which are the issue? Maybe the new sat-maps mod with that big file?

No, this is a bug in the Mac version of the game. I have hopes it will be fixed in the next patch; I don't have any sort of release date for that though, I am sorry.

Well it is quite a pill. I got one run with mods working but it crashed early & unsaved. Won’t save my settings at all.
There are so many great mods for this that aren’t cheats, but improvements.
even those that are cheatish could be added as optional rules for QoL? Choggi seems like an obvious approval, lol.
hoping to enjoy modded play soon. Thanks.
