It says up-to-date. I cannot open the game to check.

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Yesterday the game was running fine. Today I tried to run the game using the Steam Launcher. It shows the icon on the Dock, but game doesn't launch. No window shows up its just the icon sitting there. Tried restarting my computer, checked for updates, but didn't work. The only notable change I did to my computer since yesterday would be downloading JDK 8. I was using JDK 13 before. Now I have downloaded JDK 14 but still didn't work.

I have attached the log of my last attempt.

Can you replicate the issue?
Every time I try to launch the game, I get the same result.

The game has not changed for months, so this must be a local issue. Interesting about the JDK but I doubt that really caused this.

What I'd suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/{large number}/
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- manually delete both the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND ~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/ folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or Application Support SM locations, before installing again.

This could be the saved games issue. I had this a frozen syncing to cloud the other day. I managed to play the game once but yesterday it refused to start.

Thanks to another thread here I deleted my old save files using explorer. I found them in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\Save

Having rebooted this morning, Surviving Mars is now working.

So it is a problem with too many save files and the work-around is to delete old ones.
