Description
Game Crashes (Exits) When Publishing Mod to Steam

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1001586

Do you have Space Race installed?
Yes

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I'm trying to publish a new version of my mod which includes a bug fix. I published to Paradox fine, but the game crashes (exits without warning) during the publish to Steam.

I can't find any errors or indication as to why this happens.

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes, every time. I can't disable the mod, because the problem is with publishing a mod. The mod editor really needs some TLC.

I did, but then afterwards I changed the description to: "Description pending update..." and it is still crashing.

I'll see what I can do with your ECM + helper mod. It should totally be allowed to have access, without the helper mod needed to have it function correctly. It's sad that the developers published such poor tools, then go out of the way to hinder work like yours from being published.

Here's an entry from event viewer about the crash:

I figured this out, or at least a work around.

Somehow the ID of the mod didn't match the ID on Steam. After I updated the Steam ID of the mod to match the ID from Steam, the game stopped crashing.

I'm not sure, but that's what worked for me. It wouldn't be too hard to test if it's reproducible, if you want to do that. :)

Perhaps the "wrong" id was already in use by another mod, so it hit an unexpected failure of trying to overwrite someone else's mod? There are numerous possibilities, however a CTD is never good.
