So far I've played to '40ish three times as Italy, and the '39 scenario til the fall of France as Germany a couple of times. In
every game the Yanks have been in the Allies before Poland fell (including the second go at Blitzkrieg when Warsaw fell in 16 days) and I've faced Brit and US expeditions in France. This last game, I was influencing USA to the Axis from as soon as I could, and I rushed quite undecorously into the arms of my welcoming brothers-in-Fascism.
The problem seems to be that every nation in the world starts aligning itself towards Allies at some point, and that Britain's return from their "Influence" action on a nation is greater than Italy's (I wasn't bothering with Germany, I figured I'd win anyway if I kept at it). Current game, it's summer '39, Germany has neglected to Anschluss or annex the Sudetenland, and puppetted Poland after beating her, and nearly every country in the world is in the Allies. The only one that seems to be remaining neutral is Bulgaria. I'm so glad I built a second corps of Alpini, guessing that Switzerland would be drawn into the Allies at some point, because they're in, already. At least it happened while there are still some Allied nations left on mainland Europe...
Perhaps I should stop doing so well and scaring the world...
