Bear in mind, that Recon units are not supposed to be frontline combat units. That change makes them Infantry, the same way the MP unit is currently setup. If that is your intention, your change works.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread ...
"I think the Signal unit should give a bonus to recon.
Also think that Artillery should get a nerf when it is attacking, that the Signal unit removes. "

I haven't figured out how to make the Signal unit give an attacking artillery bonus. Yet.

Recon would be easy to add:
recon = 1 - HA, Mr. Robot here :)
I don't think there is a way to add Art nerf, that would require special function and I am not good with LUA.
Maybe org boost?

May I ask how is Signal set up in Kaiserreich? (you have it in your signature) - that might be good inspiration.

KR signal unit is no different than the base game. My general changes (to initiative and recon) I've already mentioned above. My specific changes would require an explanation of other things (like additional signal units, rework of recon values, etc), which isn't appropriate for this thread.

Not a problem. Neither do I. ORG bonuses are usually given from technology. I have tried putting some of those modifiers at the unit level, but they didn't work so well. Don't remember if I tried ORG modifiers. Probably not, as it isn't something I was trying to get the Signal unit to do.

In my opinion, every support company should be such a help to a division that all five support slots are used as soon as production allows. As it is now, a new player who actually knows something about WW2 will put recon, a hospital, and signals in his divisions, thinking he has done something good.

The game mechanics should allow for commonsense decisions, but in support (and other areas) commonsense fails.

Totally agree, the simplest fix would be to remove support from org calculation. I really doubt that real soldiers surrendered more quickly just because there is a Field hospital in their division.....

I think they would be used more if there was a 6th support slot. If you use full support companies, you have to pick one to drop. Signal companies are often it.

That's perfectly true, but personally I like the frustration of only having five slots. This is a strategy game after all, and that should always mean hard choices. In a game so bloated with spam and fairy-dust, at least they've kept the support companies mean and rigorous.

That's fair enough. I just prefer to be able to have all the historical supports I can. It feels so strange choosing between giving my men radios or literally any field medical care.

@Mister Analyst do you have any comment on the dev's claim that AA shoots down fighters?

In all my tests on the subject of divisional AA, I have never once seen fighters shot down. Not even with 451.5 AA in a division.
That is a great question!

I cannot answer at the moment as I haven't paid much attention to the divisional AA in-game.

Recon's influence on battle tactics and how that resolves into performance is debatable. Supposedly it was improved in this patch cycle, but I've not seen substantive data to suggest it's good now. I was away from the game for quite some time though, so I might have missed that.

Recon allows divisions to move a little faster though so that's helpful.

This is available and compatable with Vanilla and many of the Overhaul mods - you can use as many or as few as you wish or can afford.

Recon is decent for Exiled troops - it doesn't take anything uncommon to produce, utilizes their idle manpower and still somewhat helps those shameless defeatists to fight a little bit better and prove their worth (I'm yet to see a nation in exile who flat-out commited to the war and i.e. scrapped the barrel before fleeing to me).

I think some overlap with support company functions would be ok, IE Recon could give initiative as well
(You can radio to your friend to attack, but where and whom?)

Signal should give % boost to stats, or at least to org. And should have been much more expensive in terms of research and hardware
