Hey All,

Does anyone know what the new hot key is for "support attack" with the blue arrow? I noticed recently if I hit CTRL+ Right click on the battle it just tries to assign the division to a line but it doesn't give me the support attack anymore. Not sure if this got phased out? I checked the forum everywhere but no one is talking about it. Appreciate if someone knows what the new key is.

It's still control right click, but it's super finicky. The only way to reliably make it happen is to do it on the battle icon after it starts.

Hey All,

Does anyone know what the new hot key is for "support attack" with the blue arrow? I noticed recently if I hit CTRL+ Right click on the battle it just tries to assign the division to a line but it doesn't give me the support attack anymore. Not sure if this got phased out? Just ran a quick test and the hotkey support attack sequence works as described in the HOI4 wiki.
Division management hotkeys
Support AttackWith a unit selected, hold down control ^Ctrl and right click on an existing battle to "support" that battle.

Here is a screenshot showing the sequence:
  1. Select a unit by left clicking on it. See yellow horizontal arrow pointing to the German 10th Infanterie-Division.
  2. Right click on the battle icon. See yellow vertical arrow pointing to the green circle with the "73".
  3. The blue arrow shows that the German 10th Infanterie-Division is now engaged in a support attack.

Shouldn't Model be running a defensive campaign somewhere? Or did you execute all other Germany field marshals? ;)

With all the 1-division armies without generals, it looks like he let the AI play for him until he made that one command.
Brilliant deduction!

A 1939 Germany start in observer mode runnning at speed 5 until battles started. Then tag switched, grabbed a convenient infantry division not in battle and ordered it to support attack. Quick and simple. :)
Shouldn't Model be running a defensive campaign somewhere? Or did you execute all other Germany field marshals? ;)

The Fuehrer was told that the HOI4 artificial intelligence represented wunderwaffen and so he wouldn't need his staff any more. ;)

I just realized the any% speedrun for testing a support attack would just be the 1936 Italy start, just right click once in Ethiopia and you're good.

Hmmm, I'm fighting a Siberian mountain province that the Japs [4 XXs] have occupied, surrounded by 5 Soviet provinces [10 R.Arty 20W XXs, and 20 other XXs] .
I want to start a fight in tile 1, and do 'support' attacks from tiles 2-5 .

Does the game allow multiple 'support' attacks ?
Can I also run conventional attacks from tiles while being 'supported' ??
As I see it, tile 1 launches the 80W initial attack, tiles 2-5 throw 'support' attacks of 40W each using R.Arty as indirect support; and can I also send in extra XXs doing up to 160W in direct attacks ???

Yes to all* of the above.

(*) Note support attacks fill the combat width too. So if tiles 2-5 throw support attacks of 40W each, the 160W is already filled up, and you have no more width left to contain other direct attacks without penalty. You need to mix in your direct and support attacks so that their total width doesn't exceed the combat width. For instance, in your scenario, if you leave 2 20W R.Arty off to the side, you can send in extra XX (up to 40W) from the same tile doing a direct attack in its place.

Needing to wait to reinforce is a significant problem with doing this manually. If you initiate attacks from multiple directions at same time you get full combat width worth of troops in the fight immediately, and that can often make a difference in the outcome of the battle.

Also can we please make spearheads stop doing support attacks on pins that are supporting the spearhead?
