So I noticed you can equip units like Artillery in either the Support slot OR in the Combat slots, in which you can put up to 5. If that's the case, why would one use the support slot at all? Bringing along 5 seems way more powerful. Or is there some other bonus to having it in the Support slot? Of course bringing 5 would cost more equipment but they don't seem to be very expensive/time consuming to make so, that cant be the only drawback surely?

Support Arty has almost no penaltys (in mountain or for naval invasions). Only the support one can be Air dropped with Paratroopers.

Edit: Also they are actually towed by the division, so a Mot. division with 'normal' artillery will be slowed down to walking speed.

Support companies keep up with the division whatever the weather or terrain, which isn't true of heavy weaponry in the main body. As for "not very expensive/time consuming," good luck with that one.

Like to post's before, The main advantage is that support Bat can keep up with the main body what ever the speed is. So if you don´t want to produce SPArt for your Mot Div you can just put it in the support art so you get some art and it can keep up what ever happens. i also think that art in support place doesn´t lower org as much as the combat art does.

Awesome, thanks.
So both have their uses. When you don´t want to increase combat width, use support artillery. For breaktrough divisions for example, so you can have more breaktrough divisions with more power in the same battle. My mind starts to think all kind of places to use them.

To me it look like support artillery give you more for its cost and it also have the advantages that come with being support such as it don't hinder paratroopers and slow down mobile divisions. Its disadvantages are that it will cost you one of your 5 support battalions slots and you can only have a single support artillery per division.

On a sligthly different note.
Can we mix support battalions in one combat brigade? I mean something like 3x3 inf regiments, and 1 regiment of 1Art, 1AT, 1AA

Doubtful. Why would you do it? Why not just have 1 battalion of art, 1 bat of at, 1 of aa.

Because I don't want to waste support slots for fire support, and I also don't want to mix them in infantry regiments. I want to create one seperate (mixed)fire support brigade/regiment for each division.
