Kvlt 45, that Supreme Ruler 2010 looks pretty cool. I'm certainly going to pick that up when it comes out.

Superpower 2 looks to be like Superpower 1 in the same way that Tremors 3 looks like Tremors 1.

Superpower 2 just looks comical. Tremors 3 was just comical and that completely ruined the movie.

Superpower 1 was an OK game (besides the fact that it crashed 5 minutes into the game) but it really seemed to lack good interface. Tremors 1 was a good movie, not a POS like Tremors 3.

To be more specific, you just need to go to the SR 2010 forum and you will see that they answer almost every suggestion/question of their potential customers.

I played Superpower. At first, I thought it was really cool. You could develop technologies, make treaties, and even pre-target your nuclear arsenal. Watch out for China, biatch!. :D

Then it came tumbling down. In one game, the Ukraine invaded the Middle East, sparking World War III. On multiple occassions, the United States turned into a dictatorship (all you need is enough money and you can change your government), leaving me (the UK) all alone as the world fell apart. The really dumb part is you can never tell why war occurred because the event log after each turn was almost impossible to navigate and took 10 minutes to read completely.

Oh yeah: the game crashed every five minutes. It made HOI 1.0 seem like a fully-developed game.

Conquering countries was rediculous. All you had to do was conquer their major cities. That's right, Canada could conquer the U.S. within weeks of an invasion! I could never understand how combat worked, so I let the computer do it for me. Whether I actually took a city or what damages my forces took were impossible to figure out.

I finally sold the game on eBay after it sat around my house for three years.

All in all, Superpower was crap. Fantastic premise, but utterly shitty production.

As there is a difference between Hearts of Iron and Hearts of Iron 2, there is a difference between Superpower and Superpower 2. Superpower was a crap, I agree with you, but Superpower 2 is not. Its a great game with unlimited potential.

I hated SP2. I bought it because a friend said it was kind of Cool. And it wasn't bad. But it was bloody boring, and steep learning Curve, and half the time it Crashed or didn't load.

So I uninstalled it and bought HOI2 and haven't regretted it once.

You are right. It was boring, and used to crash a lot of time when it was released. Now just download their latest patch 1.4 and see for yourself how great the game has become and you will find a lot of corrections, additions and changes. Its a very nice game now and within a month they are releasing its last patch alongwith Software Development Kit and you would know that how amazing this game is.

They dont give a damn.

As the owner of both SP2 and SP1, including HOI2 and all Paradox games, I believe that they cannot be compared. They are two different time periods, and have different concepts. Overall, SP2 is better for Multiplayer and for economic principles, and HOI2 is better militarily. SP2 and HOI2 are equally unstable.

For what it's worth, I'm a Supreme Ruler 2010 Beta. BattleGoat Studios has done an absolute spectacular job when it comes to listening to what their (potential) customers say (as they have yet to release a game). The game was originally slated to be released more than a year ago, however is delayed not due to errors or such, but rather because of new features implemented at the request of forum members. Back when the game was in developement, all you had to do was post a thread, make a suggestion and within 12 hours, a DEVELOPER (one of three or so main guys) would reply...asking questions about your idea, talking about its potential and its possible implementation. Often, all of the developers, and other forum members, would weigh in. Contrast that with the almost god-like method of the Paradox devs and the difference is astounding.

Now, I'll be the first to say that paradox is quite above average when it comes to listen to its customers, but I have always thought they would gain more if they had actual developers (no offense to the Mods, you do a great job) commenting on ideas. I know there are a ton of threads each day, but to be honest, it would be a lot better if in every few threads one of the Paradox devs would comment on Ship ranges or the how the Japanese AI will be reworked. By turn making themselves less available (perhaps they thought that by acting like EA games or other big names they would become more respected? ) they really do themselves a disservice by often having their most valuable resources- forum members- walking around in the dark,

That being said:

Super Power II deserves to be hanged by its neck until dead, then burned....and then fired out of a cannon. It is illogical and over complicated. Simple as that.

SR 2010,.....it's complex...even compared to Victoria. But not too difficult to get a hang of. Diplomacy is big, and war is VERY in depth...dont you DARE try a tank rush against a Milan rocket battallion....you will cry afterwards.
However, I can appreciate that storyline might turn some off, but it is a game I reccomend.

Regards to all,

Frasco101

Anybody who hints at hoi2 being even remotely stable is a clear liar. :)

I have had the game since it came out, and have never had a CTD. Seems to be stable to me.

It's somewhat stable but it does crash maybe you just haven't played long enough?.

Not to mention the amount of bugs i've seen that cause CTD.

Overall though it's a huge improvement over hoi1 in terms of stability. It does crash far less often but it does still crash from time to time.

CTD's are entirely the owners fault, not the games.

I've not had a single crash since i updated my drivers etc. (2 in total, probably more than a full weeks worth of hours play...oh god thats depressing...repeat after me, YOU ARE NOT MUSSOLINI!)

Don't want it to crash? Make you're software up-to-date.

Stuff like that tends to happen in the beta/dev environment where there is no shortage of people making suggestions - there are always more ideas than there are people to work on them. But I suspect that Paradox are not as communicatrive as they might be because they are a Swedish company staffed mostly by Swedes and so writing English must be something of a strain for them when there are lots of people waiting to seize upon every word.

I'll tell you a true story. At some point a stray dog had started looking for a master. Among other things, he used to follow us when we took our dog for a walk, and trying to impress us. Poor sod was really looking for a master.

Then two women, a mom and daughter, took pity on the poor dog, and took him home. They started taking him to work with them. They worked in a small shop. So the dog figured he'd earn his food by trying to defend them... from potential customers. Tried to chase away everyone who got anywhere near them.

Your kind of fanboy reminds me of that dog. Barking at the customers to defend the Master.

You come spewing that and insulting everyone's intelligence. What favour do you think you're doing Paradox with that?

Believe it or not, some of us have worked with computers for over 20 years now. We already know how to download a driver, thank you very much. Believe it or not, you're _not_ the only one who can download the latest drivers. So that's at most an insult.

So what do you hope to achieve by insulting Paradox's customers? Get them to return the game and avoid Paradox in the future, or wth?

Dunno, as they say, "Jesus is ok, but His fanboys piss me off." Guess it's worth some comic relief when there's something one can say about both Jesus and Paradox...
