Found something about sunk ships (or something like that) in the statistics screen of the demo, seems interesting.

You can also see it unit-by-unit; there's a screenie showing that sea units also have a Sunk Ships view, near the bottom here, showing that the Gneisenau has sunk the Capetown and Southampton.
