King John and Myself have been running a bunch of marathon games over the past year and have decided to dip our toes in the water again to get a regular game going from the community.

Small note, we have made some changes to the base game to slow down the passive upgrading as well as some basic functional changes that I will outline here that has made the game far more enjoyable in our last couple of games. (wish they would officially patch to this)

If you are interested please post 3 nations you are interested in playing and the game times available and we will try to accommodate as much as we can to make a game possible. Also, please feel free to ask questions on here to foster some discussion, rules and other things will be added as needed based on any interest.

Changelog:
Light Armour speed to 20km/h and increased air vulnerability to 20
Armour speed to 18km/h and increased air vulnerability to 20
Mechanized speed to 16km/h and increased air vulnerability to 18
Motorized Infantry speed to 14km/h and increased air vulnerability to 16
Cavalary increased air vulnerability to 12
Reduced Infantry air vulnerability to 10
Reduced specialist infantry (para, marine, gar, mtn) air vulnerability to 8
Cut all Nav bomber ranges in half and +1 Naval attack to the base models
Changed the CAG models to more closely represent the proper year FTR models
Changed AA to reduced air vulnerability more gradually.
Changed the passive upgrade time from 2 years to 5 years.

The logic of the changes were that Motorized infantry had a ridiculous speed advantage and could easily overrun any unit in the game during retreat to completely wipe them out thus making Motorized infantry the key unit of battle instead of the tank. Also increased the air vulnerability to represent the reliance on vehicles (more susceptible to bombing) at these levels air alone can't do much but in combination with ground forces are able to bog down and effectively deal with mobile units.

Carriers were previously too weak vs. Air power since each Carrier is supposed to have upwards of 60-80 Ftr on board or close to a full air division, seemed strange that a couple Navs could come in and sink 2-3 carriers per sortie when those carries would have hundreds of fighters between them to counter the threat.

Germany, Japan, USSR, and anytime Sunday is good for me.

Well, so far it looks like we're all in North America. If we had some Europeans join us, I'm guessing we'd settle on something like 12pm central time. If it turned out to be all N. Americans, I suppose anything could work.

Say Macgregor, do you ever play multiple clients in a game? Manstein and I have been doing a fair amount of that. It's a little crazy if there's just two players where you're managing a bunch of different theaters, but we might try playing two countries at once at least, depending on how many join us. Something like Ger/Ita, or Russia/China, etc, where they're either heavily linked already, or one of them at least requires a lot less management. If you happened to have a second computer and were interested in doing something like the UK/US + Fra/China, I'm sure that'd work pretty well, in the event recruitment is kind of slow.

I have 2 computers in different rooms. I can certainly appreciate the goal of limiting AI, at least in major powers. It'd be wonderful if I could recruit someone to simply man the other pc; but alas, probably easier to just find another player. I never considered using 2 pcs. As far as my thinking goes: certainly, provided France falls in 1940; that player can then restart as the USA who can also assume control of China. Germany certainly CAN play as Italy as well(as we did in the boardgame years). Sunday is of course NFL day too during season.I can play literally any time other than gametime.

I would think the US/UK would likely best be played by 2 players; each handling their own theater; Pacific and Europe. I'd think Germany/Italy could stand 2 players for different fronts.

Anyway it's great that you're organizing something. I'm totally on board. The more the merrier. I'm okay with setting up a schedule, however tentative you want to make it.

Ah, np. I've got a couple laptops that I just set on the table next to each other. Probably wouldn't work as well with PCs in two different rooms. I just thought I'd ask though. One of the benefits of a smaller group of say 4-5 vs 7-8 is it's easier to modifier the schedule a bit on the fly(if, say, it's a game day). My Sundays are pretty wide open, so I'll leave it to others to narrow down a general time.

Welcome aboard. If we can get just another one or two we can piece together a good group with John and my ability to multibox.

I'm looking forward to getting something started, any time/day. I'll play any major that's open. I just want there to at least be enough guys to limit the AI in a game so we're not all reacting to or relying on it.

Yeah, hoping to get 1-2 more in here so the multibox can be reduced to a minimum. I'm trying to get players elsewhere, I see lots of eyes watching here but no one yet willing :p

Come on people, I see lots of eyeballs checking this out ;) . We only need one or two more to get this going. King John can play the whole axis and I can help anyone out who feels shy to play MP with mentoring!

I'm guessing we have 3 people now. I'm okay with people taking multiple entities. I'll certainly do whatever it takes to get it kickstarted. Ideally I think the game improves with more players. Once major powers are manned it can be about assigning fronts to people if enough show up. While I think there are essential human roles, as long as someone doesn't mind sorting out what the AI may have done in their absence, I'm okay with certain minors being manned even part time.

What's important is that there is a thread started and people are posting. It's not my thread and thus, I'm not totally sure what plan will be; but i hope we can find 5 committed players that maintain contact with the forum or other players in the group. If there are pet peeves, they should be aired, as well as the rules for the group. I like what von Manstein has done to modify losses.

I think I'm a fairly good player who's experience has been mostly with UK/US. I know WW2 well and have experience with strategies from axis or allies that goes back to my days playing the original world in flames boardgame.

For the record, 12pm EST is fine for me; in fact, for most days of the week it is perfect.

Just checking in to let everyone know this is still pending. We may start with just us three if we can't get another signed up soon.
