When I did fight Tonio with those 400 galleys, I hardly inflicted any damage. Galleys are just so useless at this tech level (already).

i doubt that is always truth, and didn`t risk to fight Spanish fleet in their home waters. But i always let your galleys to attack my warships and it worked good indeed.

I saw succesful attack of galleys even at NT26, and better don`t put battles on ramdom if you can avoid it

Ozzeh, small comment to Nassau assault in Tago.

over 100 warships of Porto were in China. Fresh built warships were in Tago. Spain galleys were near Cantabria - about 2 month sailing to Tago.

So Nassau was safe to assault Tago, and i tested he normally grab Tago on CRT parity, but this time it was bad luck with my CRT advantage. Before Spanish galleys could sail to Tago, i could retreat Nassau, like i did.

The purpose of assault was destroying fresh built porto warships - i could get a prize of value of 40 warships Besides was good to test Spinola presence and power.

The war against OE was a rather big anti-climax, but Venice is now indeed the protector of the greek and slavonic people!

I think it's all good that the session ended early, especially because of the AI Sweden.

The last rehost was in Feb 1638, the host crash in June 1639. Not a lot of years missed even if the player save would be too big a job to fix.

Indeed. I'd prefer it if we didn't have to go with Lurken's hosting again. Perhaps Daniel would have been a better choice after all. Well, at least FAL will be back next week.

Well, ok I admit failure there. I think it was mostly because of emotional reasons. First of all I had sympathy for the Sultan who had lost so many provinces to Venice already.
Second, I oddly admired the suicidal courage of France who decided to fight practically alone both Spain and Austria at the same time (I watched matters over Romania and it was Austria who first marched over the border, to assault Wallachia. The Turk was very passive before that).
Third, I knew that Habsburgs will prevail, I was frankly a bit surprised that Spain lost the provinces and Austria took only Wielkopolska.
Considering all that, I feel a bit bad for not helping Austria, but I would feel a lot more bad if I had molested OE again.

as to peace with France, yes, cheech, we were both happy. For you - because you lost Turenne, for me - because i was not much sure that you definetely lost it, and it wouldn`t give him a problem to reassault back all small forts under my control and do same with BRA forts, if needed.

I saw before that wars with FRA and BRA are separated, so knew that wp with FRA gives free hand vs BRA. Though if you would dow again, i would regret about positive warscore, gain vs you. Btw, LT21 gave very nice fighting with you, i felt big difference

so it was proper decision to delay infra5, because of lower austrian income - in case France would go for LT race, Austria would always lag.

Austria refuced NAP with OE only because of Venice and your active position to deny it, despite you wanted more fair 1 on 1 vs OE at the end. But despite on any political world global situation (which didn`t change much from 1621 to 1639), Austria got suffer because of trusting in Venice, and didn`t get any gain. While it was agreed the case of benefit of Austria of allying with Venice.

So, i guess - unchanged global situation with Habsburg dominance is not much excuse for you, though i understand you didn`t like 8 sunni provs

Your refuting the NAP was a nice surprise for me, but really, it was an unrequested bonus. The power balance between Venice and OE was pro Venice, and I was certain of a victory in a one on one in any case (I had even declared my intentions to Rob before the session). What I needed Habsburg support for was against a French attack, which I think could have been avoided by diplomacy too but would have required my siding with France in that case.

OE losing those 4 provinces did benefit Austria. The remaining invasion route from Moldavia/Wallachia to Hungary is crappy beyond belief and makes a good invasion very difficult to sustain.

No, it's not a good excuse. And the provinces were fine except that he stab cost sort of jumped
