I dunno. Portugal's position will still give it very good opportunities to seize colonies early.

It would need to do a ToT style deal with Castille to protect its back. Scotland could do the same with England or Brittany with France. Navarre would need to play off France and Spain so would find it a bit more difficult. Aragon needs the same deal. Portugal can take QftNW early and survive, but there are plenty of other countries with similar opportunities.

They better have a friendly big brother to watch their back if they do. QftNW as the first idea is like walking around with a target on your chest.

Nations that could do with adding:

Portugal
Hungary - Arch Mede?
Saxony

Persia is an alternative but they are kindof limited in what they can do and who they can interact with.

Morocco would be an interesting addition.

I could play any of those. Hungary is interesting for me because of the counterfactual opportunity it provides. Saxony would be similarly interesting if there were at least half-a-dozen players in the HRE. The only nations I really don't want are already taken, so by all means move me somewhere else if you want to focus player activity in a different place.

So there's enough competition to go around I think.

I'm looking forward to this game.. will be interesting to see what happens around Bohemia. Poland on one side and Austria on the other.

Well, not to mention the Baltic scene.. I'd prefer to see the blue giant from the north absorbing Denmark and fighting Poland in Balticum.
Sweden probably wont be as keen in going further than Slesvig/Holstein as Denmark would be.

I suppose Portugal is out of major nations, since in EU3 everyone will know all discovered provinces not later than 25 years.

The thing is not to explore too much, and there will be a patch that changes it to not earlier than 25 years. I envision pirates to be more of a trouble.

Morocco would be tremendous fun but I am not sure if they can become powerful at all. But I would be open for that, too, if some diehard Portugal comes along.

The point of Portugal beign played by AI is that it will explore relentlessly, as it's one of the countries that take QftNW. With human in it, (or if it's annexed), the exploration will be done by humans who can plan what to explore when.

Not exactly one province minors, but as Slargos said, nations like Bavaria, Saxony or the Palatinate can make the HRE situation extremely interesting and make the game more vibrant, with struggles and alliances for who should become the next Emperor.

Well, i hope so . But still, more players in the HRE doesnt neccessarily mean that Austria will automatically get the title. It seems that if all the electors are AI played, it will be easy for the players to abuse their elections.

Hmm, yes, human electors can somewhat influence the HRE electing process and add to the game. But we would need at least three i think...

And i'm still worried about human tendency to gobble all minors around, that's dangerous to HRE itself. A behaviour our dear Brandenburgian friend is already showing signs of

I did make my intentions quite clear about what I wished with this game. Generally, you will find that the MP community largely runs in cliques, and since I only have time to play the one game per week I naturally want mainly to play with people I have come to consider friends.

You're still very much welcome to play in this game if you want to.

Saxony is up for grabs.
