In one of the many rooms of the sultanate palace in Mecca...
"Hakim, my bloodbrother, what do you think to do now?"
The crown prince, Hasan, was sitting on the large pillow, eating a few dates while his friend and advisor , Hakim ibn Omar al-Sawasi, tried to consider an answer.
"I... I think we can't do much more untill the sultan returns, Hasan. We might try to ask the emirs to inform the people, but I think that would be to early at this time".
"But the Zayyanids... or these Persians... do you think théy will accept a vassalage?"
"If it would prevent a war? I think so, Hasan. And if the Abbasids truely accept our ways of believe, then that would also quell the Zayyanid-Abbasid relations... and it would give a kind of acknowledgement to what is called the 'Sunhia faith' by outsiders"
Hasan sighed, and wondered if that would be a good thing. Although he had always followed his father's movement of mutual respect and tolerance between Sunni and Shia, he wasn't blind to the outsiders view to this. Now that the old sultan nearly called war upon the Holy Sites with his believe, Hasan wondered if it wouldn't stear up useless discussion into the muslim world.
"Hakim... the spymaster has informed me that Ahmed ibn Omar Aziz has gained power since the thread of war... significant power within the fundaments of the Sunni's in Mecca and Jedda. He said that it is but a matter of time untill his faction grew to big to ignore".
"But the Sunni's of Mecca are... I mean, they are powerfull, and they have always formed the backbone of your father's reign. Wasn't their late leader, Imam Abdul Rahman bin Walid, your father's mentor... and... and great supporter of the Sunhia ways?"
"Some Sunni's believe that the Abbasids are just in their claim and their ways, more just than us, but of a lot of Ahmed's followers are ignorant youth, according to the spymaster. Youth capable of fighting, and the future Sunni majority of Mecca, not to mention".
Hakim's brains worked on top speed, to find a way to process this knowledge. If this information was true, then the young Ahmed ibn Omar would indeed be able to incite a revolt.
"What should we do? I mean, what are you going to do? You can't supress them, and you can't ignore them, but neither can you let them sieze power".
"Hakim, I was thinking of something... I was hoping that if... if the Abbasids would be able to help us, to officialy acknowledge the ways of Sunhi'ism, to convert the sunni'ism to please them, but yet to rule from the ways of Sunhia. With the aid of the Zayyanids, and the acknowledgement of Cairo, we might actualy create a Sunhia dynasty".
"That would sound very progressive... very... untraditional... herecy maybe. Would your father agree with that?"
"My father would not. I think he would rather cut the Hedjaz from the world then try to co-operate with it. But I think he will step down soon. His health is bad, and I know he feels he is getting to old. Think about it, Hakim... imagine, Sunhia as a third way of Allah, as a filing of a gap between the Sunni and Shia faiths"
Hakim smiled, and took a last grape.
"Hasan, I think it's madness. Maybe you are mad"
"Maybe I am"
