This is a follow-up topic in regards to the bug-report one I posted before.

Anyhow, having played a bit in Iberia there's a few suggestions I've in regards to the current reconquista mechanisms.

1. Buffing the bloodlines.

Considering that the whole reconquista is a bit wishy-washy, why should I bother doing it when I can just become emperor of Hispania in 1 life-time? It's not effective at all. In fact I'm just wasting my time and I have nothing personally to gain from joining other Christian rulers reconquistas. I just do it because I enjoy collecting bloodlines and trying the fun stuff implemented in the game. But it's by no means effective. So I recommend buffing the bloodlines a bit to make up for the time wasted trying to achieve it.

The current bloodlines:

Reconquista bloodline: +5 Iberian opinion, +0.10 monthly, +0.20 monthly prestige and can prepare reconquista wars cheaper.

Problem: cheaper Reconquista wars is pretty much useless. Now that you have achieved this bloodline, there's not much left to declare war for. And the AI is just going to declare normal holy wars for the remainder of Iberia anyway. The +5 Iberian opinion is okay but the monthly piety and prestige buff is also kind of underwhelming.

Suggestion: Since you are fighting Muslims, add +10% damage against religious enemies. Also buff the monthly piety from +0.10 to +0.30 but keep the prestige as +0.20, making it +0.50 total instead of +0.30. A minor buff but a buff nonetheless. Since you are fighting for the faith as well, I think that it should also give a +10 Holy Order, a +5 Temple Vassal opinion opinion and a +5 head of religion opinion. After all, since you are playing in Iberia, you will have access to the Knights of Santiago. And I'm more than certain that they will be pleased with what you have done. The Pope and the rest of the church will also be pleased with your hard work. And lastly; do remove the ability to prepare Reconquista wars cheaper as it's pretty much useless now when almost the entire peninsula has been reconquered -- and also because it will conflict with what I'm going to suggest below later.

Reconquista bloodline: +10% damage against religious enemies, +0.20 monthly prestige, +0.30 monthly piety, +5 Iberian opinion, +5 Temple Vassal opinion, +10 Holy Order opinion and +5 Head of religion opinion.

Reconquista Cid bloodline: +5 Iberian opinion, +5 Andalusian opinion, +0.20 Monthly Prestige
+3.0% Morale Damage, +3.0% Morale Defense.

Problem: This one's even harder to achieve than the normal Reconquista bloodline. But mainly due to the bugs surrounding it, which are in the topic linked above. It's also even less effective because you have to purposefully make sure that you lose Reconquista wars. You are paying a lot of gold to fight in wars which give neither you or your religion any benefit. This hurts your Moral Authority and assists the spreading of heresies in Iberia. The +5 Andalusian opinion is also pretty much useless unless you plan on converting to that culture. Which I would assume most don't. But it can be kept anyway just in case. The bloodline is just weak and a bit meh considering how much effort you have to put in to get it.

Suggestions: From +3% morale damage to +10% morale damage and from +3% morale defense to +10% morale defense. A minor buff but a buff nonetheless. Keep the +5 Iberian and +5 Andalusian opinion but also add in +5 Muslim opinion because they are extremely grateful for what you did and a +5 opinion from people with a military education. They respect great generals after all. The prestige should be improved from +0.20 monthly to +0.50. Keeping the total amount the same as the Reconquista bloodline, but without any monthly piety because the Church isn't all too happy about you defending against Reconquista wars. And lastly for this bloodline maybe increased odds to improve as a military commander during war. I.e higher chance for your leader to improve his military education during war, and a higher chance to get military traits such as flanker, direct leader, unyielding and so on.

Reconquista Cid bloodline: +10% morale damage, +10% morale defense, +0.50 monthly prestige, +5 Iberian opinion, +5 Muslim opinion, +5 Military education opinion. And increased odds to improve your Military education as well as receiving special commander bonuses during war.

El-Cid bloodline: +5 Iberian opinion, +5% morale defense, +5 personal combat skill.
This one exist already in the game and you can accumulate it by marrying the El-Cids children.

Suggestion: While it's pretty good for a pre-existing bloodline, I'd like to suggest another unique feature for it. And that is to make children of this bloodline more likely to achieve a masterful military education. Basically +1 to the current education level. If the system would have made your child a misguided warrior, he now instead becomes a tough soldier. If the system would have made your child a tough soldier, he now instead becomes a skilled tactician. And a skilled tactician becomes a brilliant strategist. This makes sense as El-Cid was a renowned warrior and also someone who could be considered to inspire motivation to pursue the arts of warfare by those of his bloodline. And maybe also +5 opinion of anyone assigned as a Commander.

El-Cid bloodline: +5 Iberian opinion, +5% morale defense, +5 personal combat skill, +5 commander opinion and an increased chance to get a higher military education upon finishing at age 16.

2. Accumulating both bloodlines

In addition to this, I'd like to suggest that if you manage to get both the Reconquista and the Reconquista Cid bloodline, you should be able to prepare reconquista wars for territories outside of Iberia as well. Or maybe they should rather be called Conquista wars. For instance a Conquista war for Maghreb and Africa. My motivation for this comes down to 3 things. 1) In terms of efficiency you have wasted a lot of time and there's probably not too much left of the game either, especially not if you start in 1066. It just makes sense then to speed things up a bit if you like. 2) You have become known as a master of Reconquista wars and should therefore be both skilled and confident enough to prepare, and to recruit soldiers, for territories outside of Iberia as well. 3) It's just a unique feature for the Iberian peninsula and I'd not like to see this mechanic die down just because you conquered Iberia. I think it's nice to apply it in a wider sense as well. This would make the entire Iberian campaign more unique than it is now, since it's all about reconquista wars and not about instantly going for world domination.

3. New Conquistador trait

I think there should be a specific trait for rulers and commanders who have participated in Reconquistas. Much like the Crusader trait, but a Conquistador trait instead. This should probably also apply to the Northern Crusades.

The stats from this trait could be: +2 martial, +10 personal combat skill, +5 Temple Vassal opinion, +5 Zealous opinion and +5 same trait opinion. Do note that it also stacks with the Crusader trait.

These are my suggestions in regards to improving the Reconquista experience. Do separate number from idea. if you like the idea but don't approve of the value number I gave it, then that's all good. Just say so. I'm more interested in the opinion on these ideas than having a debate on whether an opinion should be +10 or +5. It's just a number to exemplify my point and can be buffed or nerfed as seen fit.

I like this motivation. And the idea of continously "reqonquesting" areas outside Iberia. But I would open the "Dual duchy prepared invasion" casus belly as a part of the Bloodlines - like the invation casusbelli is a part of the Alexander the Great bloodline. :)
