Cant believe I'm here first but here is one to get started - status of units is retained when they get Strat Redeployed - ie upgrade / reinforce / prioritised - I believe they always default to upgrade. Same for newly deployed units. Perhaps a new option to choose at startup - like counters or sprites?

You mean that your settings of units' priority are cancelled during redeployment? I use the upgrage / reinforce / prioritised buttons only for ships and airplanes so I haven't noticed this since I never redeploy these units.

I think it is hardcoded but Fernando might shed more light onto this.

Hello Fernando: a couple of suggestions from me, for your consideration. All of these are offered in a constructive spirit:)

A totally new and indepth tech tree, along the lines of Mod33 or Mod34, etc. Whilst this only requires db changes, it is still a very big task, but adds massively to the game I feel.

Consistency of graphics throughout. I haven't loaded up WIF for a good few months (I have been working on my own HOI2 build), but I do remember it made use of colour graphics. Whilst this is not my cup of tea, I know a lot of others like it. What I do not remember though, was whether the style was consistent throughout (ie: whether all pics were converted to colour, or just some). From a style viewpoint, it is (in my eyes at least) preferable for all pics to be either colour, or black and white, otherwise it is a mish-mash of styles. Again, this would be a lot of work either way...

More Minister/Leader traits, or changing the existing traits. Some vanilla minister traits are overpowered and a no brainer to pick: the School of Mass Combat Chief of Staff, the Decisive Battle Chief of Army, the Administrative Genius Armaments Minister, etc. Other traits are either underpowered or underused, etc. This would require exe changes though, and may not be possible/feasible.

If there is the possibility of changes being made to the exe, retaining the ability to use events/techs to update unit stats would also be important, particularly if the tech tree were expanded. If the exe could be modified to remove the need for countries to annex eachother to do this: even better. (I only bring this up as Patch 1.3 has removed the ability to do this)

Use the difficulty file for players to adjust the difficulty rather than too much reliance upon special bonuses for the AI against the human. It is OK to make the easiest possible setting the "norm" however. I prefer to modify the difficulty file myself (edit it) to set my custom level of play. Get my drift?

This ones may sound a bit hardcore but there it goes:

-USA pacific operational AI

If USA is AI all his pacific islands are transfeared to a new country called USA pacific front or something like that, this new country can recive off-map IC from USA and it will only produce usefull stuff in the pacific IE(Fighter/navals/Ships/Marines).
this way Standart USA can focus on europe and the USA pacific operatios can be programed separatly, also ths way the AI will use marines in his amphibious asaults... and better use his fleets, a better AI focus overall, this can be done also for japan or even UK.

I have similar ideas to properly simulate things like operation overlord, but are more wreid and i think that i will test it after speculating more.

This is viable solution with HOI2 engine (as Lothos did in TRP creating Kwantung Army or you did in 1914). However, the engine which WIF2 will be based on will, hopefully, handle the AI so much better that we won't even need this type of solution. Please don't ask me more, I won't be able to answer.
Nevertheless, the concept you are calling for is really well designed and works fine. :)

Introduce some randomness about the availability of leaders - to simulate accidents / being reassigned to staff jobs / falling out of favour with the CiC or your political leader etc. You get a message saying 'x' is unavailable for 3/6/ 9 months etc - and another one when is available again. Might not be to everyone's taste so maybe give the option of turning on or off.

Picking up on Froglegs suggestion - why not make the whole difficulty modifier.csv available as an on screen option? - I'm sure the majority of people who end up playing WiF2 will be aware of and interested in this aspect of tweaking the game.

I also agree with Tigey's suggestion about ministers - anything which forces more difficult choices on the player seems a good thing to me.

While I was downlading the titanium beta, I got this odd idea: how about adding several +fighter and interceptor range modifiers at the strategic destruction tree? E.G. Escort box would give +50 and some other tech in that tree also giving later +50 to range, giving rough idea about use of droptanks for planes in general to increase range?

Theoretically it should be possible as the editor does have such option to add + small test indicated that modifying +100 to fig\int max range and loading up 1944 scenario did work as expected.

How about increasing the likelihood that a leader will gain the terrain trait for whatever terrain he is on? (desert fox, ranger, hills fighter, mountaineer, etc)

It makes sense that a general who fought all his battles in the desert terrain would become proficient at it. As it stands (as far as I can tell) if a general switches terrains constantly, he is just as likely to become a 'master' at one of them than a general who wages epic battles back and forth across the desert.

A simple expedient would be to make it the square or the cube of the time he spends fighting on that particular terrain. I have no idea how the chances are coded though.

lets go:

*A better chain of events for every events on the game WiF (see SMEP mod for some chain) a example: Spanish civil war - Why Portugal dont have a event for that? Portugal a great supporter for Nat Spain and neibhour...

*More provinces and sea provinces - more than HoI 3 please

*more units/ brigades types

*exclusive units and techs for some countrys

*more resources types arround the globe (fuel, gold, food, rubber and others)

*a better supply and logistics chain (equal or better than HoI 3)

*exclusive AI for some countrys , not a generic one (Brazil, Argentina, Finland and other cool minors)

*more tech trees - a better tech tree, tech teams, blue brints and license weapons (like HoI 3)

*cold war

*more types of terrain / some exclusive terrains on regions - Normandy (hedgeron) - Tobruk (both city and desert together) and the list goes on....

*more traits for leaders - ministers and generals (see Victoria for some cool traits)

*SKIF icons - Its the best icons set arround the HoI community. I know some guys who only plays HoI 2 because the SKIF icons

*better Multiplayer support - see the MP HoI coomunity forum for all kinds of exploits in hoi engine
http://forums.ederon.net/

*more types of govern

my list will go far away if you need :p

Germany had an agreement with SOV during the mid 1930s to test their tank theories at a training ground in Kazan, far from the prying eyes of the British and French. How about an event chain for the Germans that would give the player the option of trading resources and money in exchange for experience on one (or all I suppose) of their panzer divisions. Perhaps on the leaders too. Something like "summer exercises for Geyr von Schweppenburg and 2nd Panzer".

This could work for all nations, and could be kind of like a diplomatic action in HOI3. You spend supplies and fuel, but your troops gain exp and you may gain doctrine blueprints/leaders may gain exp and traits. This may antagonize your neighbors however.

Obviously this would be easiest as an event or chain of events.

I had a thought that radar tech should increase strategic bombing efficiency gradually. Both sides used radar guidance to guide bombers to their targets and it only got better as the technology was developed. It should affect night time missions the most but I am sure it was used eventually for day time guidance as well.
