VICTORIA III

Hi community,
I propose today some suggestions for Victoria III . I play Victoria II and is very cool ,but I'm not the best player , I'm a beginner.
So I was thinking : What about Victoria 3?
Victoria 3 should have a larger timeline in my opinion :
from Congress of Vienna (1815) to the WW2 beggining (1939) so the player will now experience Bolivar's Revolution in South America , the Liberal Revolutions of 1848-1849 and the colonization of Africa.

BOOKMARKS :

1. Congress of Vienna

2. Queen Victoria of U.K.

3. Revolutions of 1848

4. The Great War

Also I was thinking about the World Economy shoud be a bit different . Merchants can be a part of the Rich Strata who trade in CoT (a bit like in EU3 and EU4 , but this time at a bigger scale). Also the currencies of the world must compete (U.S. for example will fave USD $ and U.K. will have the POUND )

The Industry must evolve ,but here must be a small part about pollution and it's effects at human population of towns.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also I'm interesting for a Metaserver (Multiplayer)
VICTORIA II (NOT with the expansion packs)
I pick France

No A House Divided Bookmark? That said there was a huge discussion (it may still be going) in the Victoria II forums about the start date and 1815 and 1821 seems to be popular so you're on to something there. As for different currencies if pulled off well it could be interesting.

I just hope they make it soon. I'm not really interested in Hearts of Iron and I'm waiting for a good Paradox title.
Never played Victoria before but I like the time period. I don't know what was the time span in VII,
but Victoria should begin just after the Wien Congress because it marks the beginning of the new era of world (especially European) politics.

I think the game should have a somewhat forced WWI as it would be a grand final for any of your campaigns.
The game should also end after WWI, maybe without a set date - the game ends soon after the war ends.

Just my views.

I think the playing Victoria during the revolutions of South America in the early 1800's would be awesome.

If it was up to me, I would use these basic start dates:

1821 - The Concert of Europe
1836/1837 - The Queen's Coronation
1848 - Springtime of Nations
1861 - A House Divided
1871 - Franco Prussian War
1884 - Scramble for Africa
1900/1901 - End of an Era
1914 - The Great War/The War to End All Wars
1919 - The Guns Fall Silent

I would also optionally suggest:
1815 (just after 2nd Treaty of Paris, Spanish Empire still alive, rest not too different from 1836)
1830 (July Revolution in France, last of the powerful Bourbons, instability in France)
1839 (First Opium War, collapse of Chinese Empire starts)
1850 (Taiping Rebellion, utter chaos in China)
1853 (Crimean War, first major war in Europe since Napoleonic Wars, Ottoman weakness starts having effects)
1857 (Sepoy Rebellion, last chance for the Mughal Empire and independent kingdoms of India)
1868 (Boshin War, Japan westernizes after one of the finest examples of gunboat diplomacy, Shogunate overthrown after around 700 years)
1898 (Boxer Rebellion, Europeans ransack China)
1904 (Russo-Japanese War, Japan defeats a European power for the first time)
1910 (Italian conquest of Libya, colonialism at it's height)
1912 (Xinhai Revolution, Chinese Empire ends after 2,133 years of glory, ROC proclaimed)
1923 (borders stabilize, world economy collapses, Fascists rise, potential for revolutions all over the earth).

But overall, in Vicky3 I think they should add dynamic start dates like in EU3/EU4 and CK2. This era was far more well documented with perfectly accurate dates (sometimes even to the point of hours and minutes), they can create a dynamic slider for start dates like in those games so that player can start whenever he wants. They can just highlight the major points of the era like in the those games, while where he starts is up to the player. It won't be too much of a problem for them.

There already exists a thread in Vicky2 forums for dicussing this though, and it has some excellent suggestions.

I don't need more than one start point (except for maybe a WWI bookmark). Keep in mind every start point would need factories, armies, navies, colonies, laws/reforms set up in advance, not to mention POPs (if they go back to that). It seems unlikely that they will have more than one start on release, but maybe a DLC or 2 can add a couple more. What I really want is a new combat system. Something more like MotE style combat/occupation (instant occupy for some provinces, fort/city siege for others). If there were some way to shift that to attack=move for the 1900-on phase of the game, that would be even better.

A more fun suggestion, and one which I religiously suggest to almost every P'dox game - allow us to change at least our nation's name. Color as well would be awesome.

I think the time frame should be 1820 to 1920 or 1825 to 1925. It never had sense to take the game to 1936 (and the military system of the game hasnt much snense after 1920) except for the fascisms to make an appereance, but the post ww I era doesnt really fit into the game.

Why not? The system of the battles , the budget and that can be updated . Also the Tehnology will support the Hyperinflation after the end of the First Great War and that should be very interesting because after a period of prosperity will start the most big Economic Crisis ever SEEN.

But there is a problem in this. The Great Depression was a result of the Great War and actions taken by US. So if we alter greatly history in our playthroughs, couldn't the economical crisis be delayed or even avoided?

There should be more things to do, and things should generally happen faster, to compensate Victoria's shorter time period.

Main reason I never really got into Victoria is that it's just so over quickly. There isn't nearly enough time to do most things that I want to.

For victoria 3; I would like to see some start dates before 1836 but after Napoleonic war. I don't particular care for ww1 but others do so having a start date then could be neat, assuming that they could repersent the war well.

Now I want to see the Napoleonic War Era for Vicky 3; but I think that deserves its own DLC IMO.
