tech split

Yoggie,

You have split tech in land tech and infra, which made me loose my military superiority overnight.

Could you please tell a bit about your intentions? I dont seem to have any profit from my new, expensively bought infra tech. Or did I overlook an explanation somewhere?

The mil tech and infra tech was supposed to be two different techs one who decides about mil issues and one who is for economy and such, but dont worry the old tech rules still applies. I was just messing around to get a hang over how it would be and look like. :)

Edit: Btw the stats are old (showing 1504) cause I have lacked both ftp prg and my dreamweaver to make that page with. Coming up soon.

On request of Yoghurt, I am creating a small program to administer taxes, countries, and provences.

You can download an early version at:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~spaanszt/c3/Eu01.zip

The program works with a database. Should anyone start adding data (not yet advised), make a copy of your database first when you download a new version, or you will loose your work.

PS
The program uses ado to connect to the database. This probrbaly means you will need mdac 2.6 to connect to the database. You will have this already when you run W2000, Windows ME or Windows XP, but Windows 95 users will probably have to download it from http://www.microsoft.com
Windows 98 users? Depends on your version. Blame Bill for the mess.

Who decided to change the tech increase rule just when Austria was ready to go up a tech level !

IIRC old caclulation from tech 5 -> tech 6 for a 12 province country was 6*6+12=48, new calculation is 6*6 + 2*12 = 60.

Bocaj: is this correct?

Let me think...

6 x 6 = 36 + 12 x 3 = 72

Oops sorry Vandem, there was so much stats to do that I must have not done it properly. Thanks for putting it in this thread too. It's much better in here as it frees the main thread up. If you see anything else, please tell me so that I can clear it up.;)

*Edit:* I looked and it was already 72. Oh yeah, if you didn't understand properly, each province is worth 3 for technology, not 2.

CP you know that the new orders and actions for each turn is in the same post each time right?
At page nr.1 under the rules are Bocaj's colonization and my battles

No, I did not. My apologies for not reading the rules carefully enough.
Thank you for pointing this out, and thx too for holding over the F/E/S conflict!

yeah, I hope it's a good way too. I thought that it might be cleaner but if you guys think otherwise, please say so. Both would be happy to change. Also if you have any ideas on clarifing or balancing rules, please say so because we sort of need more ummm... balance so that I don't kill the whole world and there are still NPC nations at the end.:p :p :p

Need everyones opinionof these opinions in the PBM:

1)Make each turn 1 week long, instead of having two turns a week.

2)A balancing effect so I won't conquer the whole world :p (I have no idea as to what to do, but CP had a reasonable working idea.)
My suggestion for vassalization would be:
a) Royal Marriage rules as in operation, RM is required for Voluntary Vassalizzation
b) Voluntary-vassal-to-be should have alliance with player
c) Voluntary Vassalization attempts costs 3 eco, 50% chance.
d) Forced Vassalization may be demanded in a peace treaty.
e) When vassals are attacked, the major country is automatically dragged into the war. The major always becomes the controlling player.
f) Effects: Vassals give 50% of yearly tax to major, rounded down. Major Player controls Vassal - army-fleet building, tech raises, etc. Cash of Vassal and Major are kept separate.

Conquered countries may no longer be annexed. Instead, forced vassalization is the only option.

Annexation is possible if and only if
a) country is a vassal (voluntary or forced)
b) country is adjacent
c) Major pays 3 eco

Yeah, the rules as above prevent the current spanish strat of rolling up minors.

We could expand on that.

3)Add an extra gameplay style to the game, like doing RPG type stuff in this thread.

4)Me and Lord E doing extra posts for colonization and battle orders respectively.

I would love to hear comments about these suggestions.

I definitely think that the turns are to short so we should probably change that soon. Do you guys think that if we have Wednesday's turn and then just do the Saturday turn each week. We could then put in the other rules when we refine that details.:D

You say this Wedensday is the last Wedensday turn and after this we only do the turns on Sundays?
I that case I am in for it, the game will gett better with longer turns I belive and the game could surly be nice with some changes. Not that it dosen't work today, because it dose, but changes are always nice:D
