I woudl also suggest setting up a forum for the modding. there are a ton of free forums out there. and if you cant find any im sure i have a friend who has one we can use, just need a new section.

this woudl make it alot easier to coordinate. having one post for the entire mod developement woudl get rather confusing.
Yes

also it would be good to use some form of IM. I use MSN, im not sure if anyone else uses anything.
Probably yes.

I think at the beginning, the Qing Empire should be unstable, and so the player will have to deal with warlord uprisings, the KMT, etc., but that it will be possible to re-stabilize the empire eventually, and then choices such as moving along to constitutional monarchy (which will keep the country stable), or maintain the authoritarianism of the regime, which will temporarily destabilize China again.

FNK_Drake I think that this mod should end in 1936, because you will be able to play 18 years (from 1918). Also there are a lot of WWII mods and none about years between WWI and WWII. Having a scroll bar is not possible. Having tech tree which cover more than 30 years it would be hard to make, and players in that case could research technologies from 1945 in 1930 (I will not be so historical having nuclear bomb in 1934), you know what I mean.

Yes. but the reason why WW2 was able to start the way it did with germany taking poland and france early was because of Use of new technology and Tactics.

Havign a game that ends in 1936 will result in a game with very little air power (it only becoming more usefull in the last years of the game) Weak tanks that probably wouldent be worth building too many, and they wouldent be very good untill very late. and there would MAYBE be one type of CV, and that would be some kinda Converted Ship that woudl come extreamly late in the game and probably wouldent see any service.

I have reason to belive that if this game ends in 1936 it will turn into a rather dull game (aside from interesting events)

Would germany have been successful in takign france so early without panzers and air support?.. i dont think so. it woudl probably end up liek ww1 all over again. Trench warfare and lots of infantry. and deadlocked in a matter of months.

What about japan?.. would they have been successful agianst the US without carriers?(pearl Harbour). surely not. it would be Battleship Vs Battleship. and in the end the bigger US econemy would win.

the reason for germany and japans early victorys were a result of a changing in Tactics. Germanys use of Blitzkrieg and Japans use of its carriers. their enemy just wernt ready. France was going to sit behind her defences and fight WW1 style. while the americans trusted the power of their Battleships.

As for the Techs. Have you played Core2 mod?. if not take a look and check out the tech screen. they crammed them full. if we coudl do something like that we should have enough room.

and as for the Nukes in 1934. Nuclear research shoudl probably be tied to an event. like a breakthough in research making it come availible for research. along with an event adding the tech team to research it.

and for other techs there is a large penalty for researching ahead of time. recearching too far ahead of time woudl weaken the country in other areas.

all im trying to say is ending this Mod in 1936 would greatly limit its potential. sure theres lot of other ww2 mods. but that just means that most of the work is already done. staying in the 1918-1936 timeframe and trying to stay historical to tech will result in a very small tech tree, and probably a boring game.

even if there is 18 years the first 10 would probably just be rebuilding for europe. and in Asia, China and Japan would have lots of stability problems and wouldent be able to focus on outward expansion.

and just look at Armageddon. you can play for 28 years. I dont think anybody bothers to get that far, but that doesent mean you shoudlent be able to.

I agree (this is what, the 4th time I've said that after you've said something? :D ). We can definitely cram the tech tree with techs - its been done before (look at mod 34) and nuclear technology can be unlocked by events (like the 1936 techs could be unlocked for everyone on January 1 1936 etc. as it wouldn't be hard to do). Besides if we stopped at 1936 then we would miss a big event possibility for Qing China - the Japanese invasion (assuming that the Japanese invasion of 1932 was a success). This also brings another question to mind - namely, when the Japanese establish Manchukuo, who will lead it? Pu-Yi will be to busy fighting the Japanese to be their puppet.

The way I see it, that's what it is. All we have to do is create the events and techs for the interwar period, and then some events to compensate for the ahistoricalness later in the game.

Yeah. How does the quote go? somethign like "Geniuses think alike. as with idiots" (cant remeber exactly now)

So we are either both geniuses or both complete idiots

I havent played mod 34, but ill have to take a look at it.

and i dont know much about asian history, but im sure someone here can help...

I agree. think Interbellum is General enough to cover even after WW2. Considering most of the Events happening in the game that will shape the world differently will happen within the interwar Period.

then its just a matter of the Events for WW2 to compensate for different outcomes in Europe.

FNK_Drake: Yes, you are right. I looked CORE tech tree and it is hug, but we can make similar tech tree. It would be very hard to make such complex tech tree, but it is possible.

To everybody: Do you agree that this mod begins in November 1918 and lasts until 1954?
