Could somebody post map of world just before end of WWI. I am thinking that it would be best that this mod start just before end of WWI. In that case Germany could choose to continue the war, or Serbia can choose no Yugoslavia. And also it will cover Russian Civil war, and world can be a lot different without Soviet Union.

There is one here

I'm linking to it instead of posting it so that it can zoomed into.

Also, we should probably start a new thread in the other mods and projects sub forum for this mod.
Thanks

I agree. Interbellum sounds good, as that is general enough to cover not only the period between the wars, but also the Qing Dynasty still existing and the possibility of an European Union dominated by (Communist?) Germans.

My thoughts exactly.

I woudl also suggest setting up a forum for the modding. there are a ton of free forums out there. and if you cant find any im sure i have a friend who has one we can use, just need a new section.

this woudl make it alot easier to coordinate. having one post for the entire mod developement woudl get rather confusing.

also it would be good to use some form of IM. I use MSN, im not sure if anyone else uses anything.

I agree with you on all points, save the IM (as I don't have one), but contact in an IM sort of way could be carried out through email.

Yeah, thats true. but if anyone does have one it would make for more direct convorsations. just a thought, not like its necessary.

a Forum would still work the best. but having multiple threads is a must. I dont think anyone likes looking through a 30 page thread.

(Edit) Example: Say we have a thread for brainstorming ideas. after it gets rather long say 10 pages or w/e. Start a new thread with the first post having the ideas that have been agreed upon, and whats still under discussion. that way its more organized.

Yes. That is definitely a good idea, and we could have a thread here that would link to that forum so that this would get more attention.

Well Communists Germans.... the EU is a democracy :p With capital city in Brussels, try to make it as real as you can :) , of course the Soviet Union can still be a communist country.

I think at the beginning, the Qing Empire should be unstable, and so the player will have to deal with warlord uprisings, the KMT, etc., but that it will be possible to re-stabilize the empire eventually, and then choices such as moving along to constitutional monarchy (which will keep the country stable), or maintain the authoritarianism of the regime, which will temporarily destabilize China again.

If the mod start in 1918 and end in 1950(or some other near year) it will cover more than 30 years. It will be very hardly to make tech trees and many other thinks.

I think it can be done though. Since we would have to redo the Tech Tree for this mod to cover the 1918-1936 period, that would be the most work. Where as the period from 1936 onward already has techs from HOI. if we coudl find some way to Incorporate the existing techs into a new bigger tech tree it wouldent be a problem. And there is also a WW1 mod, we could ask them if they wouldent mind us using some of the techs and such from that. Then all we woudl have todo is bridge the gaps between WW1 and WW2. and balance unit stats where necessary.

perhaps having a scroll bar at the side of each tech window so we can make it bigger.

Does anyone know if there were any significant advances in Military technology between 1918 and 1930? I dont have much knowledge of this time period, But in HOI there is 1918 infantry then 1936 INF. which leads me to belive that there was not a whole lot of advances untill tensions started building in europe again.

So im not sure how we would go about creating the techs for this period.

this Mod starts Historically, yet can have many ahistorical outcomes. but to accurately model the historical possibilitys we have to take into account that there could be the possibility (though very small) that europe is the same, or close as it was in 1936.

thats why i suggested increasing the timeframe.

Although we wouldent even have to work on the part after 1936 until after we got the 1918-1936 period done.

Maybe im being a little too ambitious. But Now is the time to make the decision, cause later will be too late.

Sounds good. I don't think there were any major military advances, but we would have to have some military techs, so my guess would be that we start with Infantry '18, then Infantry '23, Infantry '28, Infantry '32 and then Infantry '36 so that there is something to research military-wise in the interwar period.

Sounds good to me.

I also think that the stat increases should get higher as tech advances to simulate the fact that weapons advanced slowly in the interwar years.

Example: the difference between '18 INF and '23 INF wont be as great as the Difference between '23 INF and '28 INF and so on

having more techs will make Tech rushing a more viable strategy. Early on Land forces will rule. and airforce would be generally weak. But rushing airforce early may give a player the edge, at the expense of long inefficient research times.

and as For Naval, its significance wouldent really change over time, just the tactics. (Carrier warfare becoming important as Aircraft Advance)

I also think that since we are dealing with a larger tech tree, it woudl be more realistic to tie CAG tech to general Air tech in some way.

It woudlent make a whole lot of sense if a naval nation rushed CVs yet had a low tech airforce.
