I believe that gene modding should be allowed as a policy that materialists will like and spiritualists will see as against their gods will. Ideas?
Spiritualist believe that Consciousness is based on a inmutable "Soul". Moddifying the body will not affect the soul. The soul can not be repliacted and is drawn from somewhere (including a godly source) outside our understanding.I believe that gene modding should be allowed as a policy that materialists will like and spiritualists will see as against their gods will. We had the Gened Modding and Egalitarian discussions before. The thing is, they don't have to force the modification onto the pops. Just them handing out the modding for free/highly subisdized will result in enough people adopting it that it effectively becomes the norm for that pop unit. After all, Modification is always posiive. If we are going to tie gene modding to a particular ethos axis, I'd actually go with egalitarian/authoritarian. In a nutshell, the idea that the government can decree what your genome should look like and then forcibly subject you to generic alteration would be abhorrent to egalitarians.
The main reason not to object ot AI research, is that a cognitive AI still not any closer then it was 40 years ago. We get more refined smart technologies. But no Cognitiev AI anytime soon. It's quite interesting to note, that spiritualists follow SF tropes and accept genetic modification but oppose super-advanced AI, whereas RL religions generally have no problems with AI research, but object to some genetic related research.
I think we're getting closer to the right approach, at least- self-learning, self-teaching programs are the best bet.The main reason not to object ot AI research, is that a cognitive AI still not any closer then it was 40 years ago. Disparaging simplification. The sticking point for RL religions isn't genetic related research, the sticking point is in the use of parts of human embryos because 'even a cluster of cells has a soul'.![]()

It's not particularly common, but if you have pops living on a planet with less than 50% habitability, there's a good chance they'll adapt themselves to that planet type and randomize their traits. That can result in the ultra-[specie] event and genocidal civil war between cohabiting modded and non-modded pops.since there is a thread on the gene mod and random pop evolution, i do have to ask, is it normal for a species to go through 1 random evolution on its own? or does it happen more often to you?
That is called "Environmental Adaptation", a subfeature of Genetic Engineering:since there is a thread on the gene mod and random pop evolution, i do have to ask, is it normal for a species to go through 1 random evolution on its own? or does it happen more often to you?
thanksThat is called "Environmental Adaptation", a subfeature of Genetic Engineering:

Edit:
Apparently it was moved to the Events section of the Wiki since I wrote that:

You need at least 40% to Colonise, but less then 50% for the effect to trigger. However there is now a tech that adds +40% on Tombworlds so the proper habitability is no longer stricly needed. Plus it might bug out a bit in 1.4.1 (empty Portrait and and the Suffix as name).thanks
so next game i will just have to find a tomb world ASAP after getting gen tailoring
i found that terraforming planets removes any and all possibility of planet related events, and for TW it is especially painful since they get really fun ones
