I am sorry, if there is already thread about this. I couldnt find one, so i decided to take initiative. :)

I have been waiting a DLC about nordic countries. Would be nice to see how you could balance through war as a neutral state as a swedish or prevent German invasion as a Norwegian. The biggest thing would be to fight Winter war, Continuation war and War of Lapland as a Finnish. There could be chooses to make whether try to get assistance from Allies or Axis faction for fight. Current state of nordic countries are just sad in HOI 4. Everyone has mostly generic national focuses, only few real characters and nothing personal in their tech tree. I know that for example finnish or norwegians didint have that much their own products for fighting, but i think Bofors was a quite big company already and they had lot of diffrent type of products to foreign markets during wartime

Game is already has quite good scale about whole time period. It covers most of the relevant nations in World War 2, but atleast Finland, i think had a proper role in whole war and if Hungary and Romania are already added, i dont really see reason, why not to add Finland. I mean... in earlier HOI games Finland was much better represented. Now it is just one generic country. Still, had a proper role in War and own interesting (IMO) path through war.

Baltic countries would also be nice. During war, they had to decide whether trust Soviets or Germans as an invaders. Would be nice to get to play through their history and maybe seek security with aligning to certain faction.

I really hope you could add more depth to playing as a nordic country.

Other DLC suggestions would be perhaps about african or south american countries. I just think they didnt have enough role in World war 2 (No offence). Next DLC would be great to add more national focus trees on smaller countries and making them feel more relevant to play with.

And maybe for next HOI game, if it is too big addition to HOI 4. Why would not make possible to start game as early as... lets say 1925. More time to prepare yourself to war. You could really emphasize your way of playing. Fascists, communists revolts/uprisings, great depression. New natiions getting their independences. Lot of things happened on next century after world war 1 and it would be great to steer your country properly to next world war or even manage to stay neutral.

Since this is actually my first post here, i would also like to thank great game what i truly enjoy playing!

The next DLC should be about Scandinavia, I bet. Or maybe even Greece and Bulgaria. Who really knows. Either way Greece and Bulgaria (maybe even Turkey, probably.) had been left out in DoD and they should focus on it, imo.

The game should try to lessen its emphasis on alternate history which in all honesty, has introduced more bugs and gameplay issues. (Crazy strategic AI and conflicting focus trees) I'd also like to see it move away from ridiculous internet meme culture. If you have to add alternate history , make it plausible, don't do it for the "lolz" or in hope that EU IV people will buy more of your DLC.

I would rather to see a similar DLC to Waking the tiger, but focuses on South America rather than asia, with the additions on Improved and much better Politics and diplomacy system rather than it being sticked to ideologies and also i'd love to see an proper and advanced espionage system.

Nothing happened in South America, the most that they contributed were volunteer units. See this is where I'm getting at. Try to keep the game somewhat historical. People have enjoyed the series because of its setting not because they want to play a game that emphasizes dumbed down history and meme culture.

Many things on Waking the tiger we're ahistorical. So I see no problem with a South America DLC.
Well that's a direction I think they need to move away from. I know its probably unpopular to express this opinion, but its driving away their core audience who have played these games since the early 2000's. Game series often have a point where they jump the shark, and can never go back to how they once were. I feel like HOI IV is about to put on those water skis and make the jump.

I don't think we need a nordic dlc, but Finland might get thrown in a Soviet rework (which is needed). The Med is much more interesting. I hope we see Greece, Turkey and Spain, and reworks for the US, USSR and UK. Finland should be thrown into one of those, but Norway and Sweden should wait.

just play with Historical setting turned on.

Where Balkan States join the Japanese faction, Republic Spain wins the CW and Germany starts the war against the Soviets in 1940?

The current setting for historical focus isn't that impactful at all. It only restrict the used focuses, but the rest can be still... insane.

Well that's a direction I think they need to move away from.

The most relevant thing that Turkey did in WW2 was sign Non-Agression treaties, and yet is a fan favorite for a revamp. Plus, most SOuth AMerican countries did much political manuvering between the Axis and the Allies and were a hub for clandestine activities from both the Axis and the Allies. This I say, is can be fleshed put in an interesting fashion

I have also thought about the idea of a Nordic DLC, I think the best way to do it would be to give Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark their own new focus trees. Then have each of the Baltic states share one focus tree like the warlords in WtT and finally redo the USSR focus tree with alternative history trees as well, as I have always felt that their focus tree has been lacking. Also I don't think that the dev team will add 1925 as a start date but maybe 1932 as that is a year before Hitler took power and could flesh out more the focus tree before Hitler takes power in Germany.

They can't even get 1936 right, why would they make more start dates?

I'd like to see a Darkest Hour II. The franchise should return to it's roots and ditch the fancy graphics and focus on solid game play.
Also Darkest Hour was made by a group of modders not related to the HOI II team once they sold the rights to the old game engine.

Yes and this group of "modders" did a hell of a job. DH seems to be a far superior game and as you said they weren't even getting paid to build it.
They also got alternate history options right.

I've got several good ideas for Scandinavia (invading ports, with combat between the invasion fleet and defending coastal forts; mobilisation issues and internal power struggles; and a system where you relocate your heads of state to keep them from being captured), but I've posted them before, so won't get into them in depth. Maybe one day I'll make a single post where I write about all my ideas and then I can link to that post, but whatevs.

One new idea I just had, though, would be to have a system for neutral nations, such as Norway, where they actively struggle to remain neutral, and avoid doing things that would provoke either the Allies or Axis from taking action against them, but at the same time try to be ready to mobilise and fend off an invasion when or if it actually happens.

Implementing something like the threat system and the faction alignment pyramid from HOI3 should work nicely, along with various historical and plausible ahistorical decisions and events to enact and respond to for the Allies and Axis, such as the Altmark incident or the British laying mines near Narvik, or even sneaking a small number of German troops into Norway on the Rio de Janeiro, with a chance of the ship being intercepted and sunk by the British as it was in reality.

Then there would be various Norwegian national ideas and decisions that affected Norwegian ideological infighting and indecision, mobilisation problems, obsolete equipment, poorly trained soldiers, and so on, with the player trying to improve upon these as best they could so that Norway is prepared for an invasion, but at the same time, it needs to not provoke the great powers into actually invading.

With proper systems in place, you could have an actual Weserubung play out somewhat like in reality, with some or all of the issues the Germans, Allies, and Norwegians faced. Even better, the systems introduced would make all invasions of minor countries far more interesting.

just play with Historical setting turned on.
Also, I do want some variation, I can't always do historical. But I'd want that variation to actually work, be plausible, and not make me save 10 days before each focus is finished. A good example of this is Manchukou not going with obedience. Totally ruins your game as Japan. But you play with historical focuses off because you want some change. This is a focus someone might want to do as player of that country, but not happen to them when that country is one of their puppets.

Honestly we do not even need DLC... but rather them getting so called "history correct" for example why is Invasion of Russia and Britain into Iran not shown as matter of fact it was very important invasion that allowed allies to support USSR in their war effort? or why is Iraq civil war not shown and British intervention in Iraq? why is it that Iran population lower than historical one? why is it that Iran got 18k troops defending their nation? when in fact by 1921 Iran had 48k troops let alone 1936.. the point is that what paradox did on release was glossed over all none major faction and made them even weaker than they were in real life so people ask for DLC to see some changes toward historical accuracy.
