In Simcity 4 we had one small but great feature, being able to make a building historical, blocking it from upgrading. That allowed us even more freedom in the design of our neighbourhoods.

I really miss this feature in Cities:Skylines (an awesome game I'm having lots of fun with BTW), but I think this could be easily implemented in one of the patches. I even made a small concept of how it could look in game.

One would simply click on one of the upgrade level fields to select the level beyond which the building will not upgrade.

That is a good idea.
Although I don't know how much "building strategy" is part of the whole grand scheme of upgrades.
This could mean they don't intend to have something like this at all.

Well this feature should be fairly easy to implement, since it's nothing complex nor does it change any of the core mechanics and concepts, so I hope the devs are considering this already.

ohh hell yeah ,this is 100% needfull :) please Devs. make it available tick or untick checkbox to prevent keeping your buildings of choice ... Like in simcity 4

There's a mod that does that both for individual buildings and districts.
