If there would be an exhange it should be for accumulating points, not for points you already have. And the rate of exhange should be steep like 2:1. That way you could focus more on one branch in the long run, but it would really cost you.

I haven't played the demo yet, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the game currently limits you to one of each type of advisor. Rather than getting rid of the distinction between the different types of points entirely, why not just allow you to have three advisors of the same type? Then people who really want to focus on an area can use an already established system to do so, while still somewhat falling behind in other areas. Hypothetically, a very rich nation could get +9 to a single MP pool just by using advisors, but even at the beginning of the game you could get +3 or +4 to a single pool cheaply instead of needing to pay through the nose to only get a +3.

Its a good idea but it has a major flaw - advisors are separated not only by the points they give but also by their types of effects they apply, if you just get 3 slots what's to stop you from getting +30% trade eff or -30% tech. Even if you are not allowed to use the same type of guy more than once how about a -20% stability and -10 admin tech, they would save you too many (70) admin points whereas now you cant have them both.

Ah, that makes sense. Could be fixable, though, with some kind of balancing. Or perhaps they could still be separated into the three categories but have the type of monarch point divorced from the type of advisor?
