Since this seems to be the coolest new feature in the Republic DLC, I thought I'd just get this request thread going now.

I would like to see the "leading" families for all regions, whether or not they are feudal. Besides being cool, they can add the following potential flavor events, and more:
- 'Peasant' rebellions could now have an actual goal; to install a new leader from one of the families.
- Choosing council members and excluding a family can lead to loyalty penalties.
- Members of the leading families have inside track to have their plot succeed (particularly change liege plots)
- Families that are not of the "elite" can vie to disgrace on of the families and take their place.
- Awesome modding possibilities

That's not what hes saying. A system similar to patriarchal families, but feudal governments.

We already have that. They are called barons, counts and dukes.
What he's asking for is more complication to that system. See the first post.

The patriarchal system for merchant republics makes several elite families vying for control in each duchy or kingdom level republic. No relevant system is present as far as counts and dukes go currently. The details disclosed in the article on the Republics expansion, applied to duchies and kingdoms, etc.

Yes but... Where where somethink like this in history? The most families who vying for the controll in duchies and kingdoms are other counts, dukes and kings. I don't really understand what they shall represent?

Not really, only the name is different in a major way. Instead of adding a new set of families it makes more sense to make use of the existing ones i.e. barons and counts.

Note: since I guess there may be some misunderstanding here, what I mean is that there is no need to add any new "families" since the existing barons (and counts although a bit less so) are underused and could serve the desired role.

Peasant rebellions were a stable feature in mediaeval cities but would normally wish to change the social order and mostly be indifferent to just personal issues and unwilling to shed blood and risk neck for simply a different factionist on the throne. Citizenship for everybody, less strict guild rules, easier access to professions, more vote in political matters, these would be the typical wants of the more common commoners. :)

And nobles that held minor estates. You're forgetting those. And history is full of examples of nobles climbing their way up the social ladder to become counts, dukes and kings.

I'm not sure if the OP means having patricians for mayors or patricians to simulate cadet branches.

That said I guess patricians for mayors, if a computer could actually handle it, might give a larger pool for the third estate, although this would probably just make the option to summon a minor lord to court obsolete.

More importantly it would clutter the plot interface beyond comprehension. There already are way too many landless characters plotting (often against other landless characters).

And nobles that held minor estates. You're forgetting those. And history is full of examples of nobles climbing their way up the social ladder to become counts, dukes and kings.

Depends on the period and place, sometimes and in some places there weren't so many nobles below the barony level. (Or that many baronies.)

How is a proper medieval queen to live without 16 ladies in waiting? (I'm actually kidding, court staff inflation did happen every now and then, but not to the level of the 18th century, obviously :p )
