The only way to fight a equally sized major that has quantity is to have quantity yourself. It's like the ottomans, sure their units are bad late game but it doesn't matter when they have 900k troops. Doesn't matter how much you cut them down they still always have 900k troops for every war. It isn't terribly fun to play against, that's what i'm saying. Especially when they start carpet sieging and you gotta clean up that mess yourself...

Are you talking about fighting an equally sized AI that has quantity, or another player? Quantity is only 25% manpower now, not that huge anymore.
Loans, mercenaries, mountain forts, troop quality, should make a much bigger difference

I think that now AI just became better at blobbing. And maybe better at economy. I skiped 1.33, but compared to previous patches, big AI eats faster and has a better economy. And with quantity nerf it feels different now for player.

I played two tall games in the new patch to observe the new world dynamic. In both Otto got almost all Egipt and 100k troops in 1500, France consolidated the region and invaded Iberia and HRE, Russia formed with quantity on par with Otto. I think such strong France never happened for a few patches in my games. And AI Russia happened in 1.30 last time for me, I think.

It is what players wanted all the time, better AI, right?

AI was always fine on the high end. Its the small nations that cant make adequate calculations. They cant go all in, cant make plays to save themselves and end up being free clay.

I think that realistically it should be super hard to field more than half a million, and the ottomans are way too stable and the Ukraine expansion has not been fixed, just hardcode the ai in not going for it before 1650s or so.

Please no more special casing. The evidence we have about how that "works" should be sufficient as of sometime ~6 years ago or more.

Maybe someway for empires to break apart? It's annoying when the tags stop existing by like 1600-1700 so they never ever rebel ever again meaning that empires remain rock stable no matter how much bankruptcy and war exhaustion and devastation you give em.

Separatist rebels will spawn in red culture land even if there are no other cores there. Tags that "stop existing" does not meaningfully influence rebel success, just which countries can be released from target (either directly or as vassal).

I think that a supply overhaul would fix those numbers but places lile enlgand having 200k in the 1640s is just so immersion breaking, the game is too fast now as the ai, got better in money managment, now they need to up rebellions, crushing them, places like nothern africa being portugese 100% of the time should not be possible for most of the games, make them rebell, so much that it breaks free, atm the rebellion are just too stupid to do so.
