New poster but have played 1.5k hours of EU4, for me the best game I've ever played so this is complaining at a high level of satisfaction, not hating. I don't like how stability goes from -3 to +3 and can be instantly changed by throwing ADM at it. Why don't have it from 0 to 100 like legitimacy, prestige, power projection? Could still throw ADM at it to increase it but shouldn't be instantaneous but trickling up while you're spending those ADM (like annexing a vassal or westernizing). Events like king dying, revolutions etc could still change it by x instantly but shouldn't be in the player's hand. This opens up other possibilities like national ideas/government forms that give +stab/-stab over time, war exhaustion reducing stab over time etc, not hard to think of more. A lot of things could / should affect stability (or happiness, which this also kinda simulates) but since any change in stability right now is so big, that has to be used sparingly. Overextension definitely should affect stability, maybe even to the point that it's the only effect it has (and the negative stability in turn leads to more rebels and so on). I have more ideas but like I said it's easy to come up with those after you accept the premise of 0-100 stability is cool - if it isn't cool, then no need to flesh them out, so what do you think?
