Hot on the heels of "Foreign legions for any country"

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108568

and "elite units of each country"

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108834

I got a new idea, and since I leave today for a business trip (and won't know what has happened until some days will have passed), I have to speak it out. Please forgive my excess, but I feel it has merit.

Allow me to elaborate...

1. "Elite" fighting units costing 4* the times (and possibly fighting only 50% better, to disallow for creating JUST elite armies)
2. "Foreign legions" that come courtesy of an event, but UNLESS DESTROYED, remain and fight with the regular army, and can be reinforced if necessary.
3. "Standard troops" that already exist, proven cannon fodder (now 100% fat free) :)
4. "Militia" type troops, easily made, easily destroyed,
5. "Colonial" type troops, (only possible in the colonies) aka Zuave, or Ghurkas, that have limited fighting potential, are cheap, or Good figthing potential but WILL rebel, if some situation on the land they come from emerge...

I feel that with those in place (at least make a generic sprite... I feel confident that the modding community, WILL create replacements for them all, so please make "hooks" units for all those mentioned above, let them be just vanilla Vicky)

And for some added excitement...

In HOI you could add to a div, a artillery battalion or an engineering battalion or what have you. HOW ABOUT ADDING MORE THAN ONE OF THEM HERE? (2-4) That would in deed make divs more like they were historically and make the game more strategic value.

Granted it should take for ever for them to be compeleted.

Ideas?

:)

I wanted to compliment current system with something that is easily doable, and correct to my mind.

I know about the FAQ. If I gave any other impression (that these are out of my head), then I am sorry.

Can't wait for Vicky to come out.

Well, I guess Generalissimo was not adressing you directly, LordSutty but rather the whole audience of the thread. But I agree with him. :)

basic parameters =

training = different types of training,
experience = depending on actual experience, also depending on assigment,
supply state = what supply priority does this troop have?
culture = speeks for themselves,

elite =

- has seen all forms of training, always high experience, selection of the best. Maximum supply,

elite cap at x% of the entire army (f.e. 5%),

standard =

- has seen basic training and can have different levels of experience. Always has a min. limit at supply, supply can vary...

militia =

- has seen no training and can have some levels of experience (max. cap at exp. level). Supply varies from very low to moderate,

colonial =

- has seen basic training and can have all levels of experience. Maximum supply,

morale, fatigue, entrechment are more or less output parameters,

The issue with colonial troops is the definition. Is this either the home troops fighting in the colonies - or the natives, inlisted in the army?

This is clear by the last parameter = culture. You can have Indian privates that have a disadvantage when they fight for f.e. the Britisch...

Hmmmm no Mountain Troops or Marines eh? (Note though uncommon Mountain Troops and Marines were both used as division sized units) No Mounted Infantry? No heavy vs. light vs. irregular cavalry? No horse vs. foot vs. siege artillery?

MAybe instead of a brigade system ala HOI they will have a type setting for each unit you make
