After the ~10th instance where I catch a vassal with +100 opinion of me trying to have me murdered in my sleep, I was thinking: normal plots already have opinion thresholds, above which even the most amoral scumbag won't join the plot. So why not the same with Way of Life's Intrigue Focus? It has no benevolent outcomes, so no immersion would be broken (on the contrary) by making the AI never spy on someone he likes, and stop spying if he starts liking the target that much after he started. Could this be done?
For a change, I'd like to live long enough to get a Long Reign bonus with a ruler that isn't paranoid, surely that happened quite often IRL.
