The new Turkish and Bulgarian focuses are huge, this has the unfortunate effect of having to wait a long time until you get to the good stuff.
As such, I suggest to halve the time required for certain crossroad focuses to 35 days.
Some focuses already had 35 days so I included them too.
Having 2 focuses of 35 days means you can do 1 focus earlier and a lot of these suggestions are on alternative paths, so you won't get to do all of them.
1) Turkey
- This change will allow you to save 70 days right away regardless of what you pick. Because the 2nd and 3rd focus you make are going to be of 35 days. That's 70 days saved. So you can do 1 focus earlier than you could otherwise.
- Afterwards, whether you go democratic, non-aligend, fascist or communist, you will save an additional 35 days. That's 105 days in total.
- The Hatay issue will also save an additional 35 days. That's 140 days in total. Now you are 2 focuses ahead of the all 70 days version.
- The democratic path saves an additional 35 days. (the democratic path was already faster so I did that to keep the developer's balancing)
- And at the end of the first half of the focus tree, you will again save 35 days. That's 175 days saved in the upper half of the focus tree.
This means by the time you reach the: Restore the Ottoman Empire, Foreign Policy or Balkan Entente decision; you will be 175 days earlier than without these changes. You normally reach that point of the focus tree by the middle of 1939. With this, you will reach that point at the end of 1938, a significant difference that allows you to do whatever you want to do faster.
- When you reach the middle of those focuses you will again get to 35 days focuses. That's 210 days in total.
- Regardless of what path you take, these changes will make the whole focus tree 210 days faster. Or 245 days faster if you go democratic.
2) Bulgaria
- The "Request Bulgarian Rearmament" on the left doesn't really count because most players bypass that focus with decisions, but it's a nice to have for those who don't.
- The 2nd focuses for each is reduced to 35 days.
- The decisions of whether you want to exterminate or cooperate with the 3 factions are reduced from 70 days to 35 days. That's 140 days in total. After you make your mind about all 3 factions and have completed the 2nd focus, you are 2 focuses ahead of the all 70 days version.
- Lower down at crossroads focuses for each path you have another reduction of 35 days. That's 175 days in total.
- Right close to the end of the focus tree, when you get to the good stuff, you have another reduction of 35 days. That's 210 days in total.
3) Summary
- In short: The Turkish focus will be reduced by 210 days or 245 days if you go democratic, while the Bulgarian focus will be reduced by 210 days.
- To put it in perspective: you will be about 5-6 months faster early game (before 1940). And in total 7-8 months faster.
- These reductions are not right away from the beginning of the focus tree, they are gradual reduction at crossroads moments.
- The are meant to make Turkey and Bulgaria less "wait until 1940 then you can actually do stuff" and more action-based countries.
- In singleplayer, this is not much of an issue, although I believe that the time reduction will be fun for everyone.
- It only needs the Turkish and Bulgarian AI be sincrionized with the other nations on the historical path, this can be easily done by making the AI pick irrelevant focuses (navy, air, etc) so that they will lose time reduction boost. For every 2 focuses of 35 days, making 1 irrelevant navy or air focus of 70 days will balance each other out.
- In multiplayer, they are very important. I made this topic in mind with the multiplayer. Because right now, Turkey and Bulgaria plays like USA online, because you don't have much of a choice due to the long focus tree. But they are not meant to be played like USA. Bulgaria should be active way earlier than it is. Turkey was neutral until 1945, but if picked by a player it should be able to be an active participant in the war before 1940.
