Forgot to add that I'd be against the ability to name other people's children. I believe courtiers should have the option to disagree with arranged marriages too. There are limits to what a liege can order or request.

It is indeed, until your children and grandchildren give their kids ridiculous out of date names. I hope Paradox allows us to name grandchildren soon.
For real. Sometimes you get lucky and your son names his son after you or him.

My favourite moment was naming a son of an early ruler Poo Pants McTwat. Poo Pants went on to be a great ruler and lasted until a ripe old age. I laughed - hard - upon seeing that name crop up many times further down the line in my dynasty. Many relatives were called Poo Pants Mc Twat.

In one of my old games as Kings of Croatia one of my characters ended up with lunacy so I named his kids after various military vehicles and found the same thing happened occaisionally, one of them inherited Sicily as King Helicopter I

I want it to be somehow coded that all Kings of England if William the Conqueror wins can only be called: Henry, John, Stephen, Edward, William or Richard.
Also Lionel appears far to often. I've seen about 7.

I got lucky in my Brittany game. I decided to name all of my characters after me, Jared, to see how long I could make it. I'm currently at Jared VIII. I named my son Jared, but then he inherited the Duchy of Aquitaine, and I lost control of him. He married, and I just checked his son's name. Jared! Yay!

The names you get in the box are both based on culture and dynasty, so it is a percentage of that. If you use "Ruler creator" it will use culture for the first generation and then be more and more dynasty based if you change the names you get.

Big dynasties with dynasty three's use mostly dynasty names.

I added some "Norse" names to norwegian culture and got newborns and random courtiers named with my names.

Well, younger sons got different names from the designated heirs, who sometimes died. People were also named after their ancestors and even the paternal royals were named after their non-royal maternal grandfathers. Then after a successful king Lionel I, you'd probably have a Lionel II and then again.

Me and my friends love giving our Portuguese rulers tipical brazilian indian names. Half the fun we get from the game is from the names.

Livin' la vida loca. ;)
