I got this idea after someone mentioned the loss of death+water beams on the "Spell Again... AGAIN!" thread. This may be a lot of work to add, but it would really improve the game and make it easier to add new elements without losing spell combinations.

Toggle-able Automatic/Manual Element Fusion
While the Poison element was a great addition for people who wanted new elements added, some people were disappointed when they tried to shoot a damaging water beam only to find themselves spraying poisonous mist. This could be solved by adding a way to manually combine elements, so we can either cast a water+death beam (QS), poison spray ([QS]), or even a poison+water+death ([QS]S) beam.

Manual Element Fusion (Default keys "[ and ]")
Pressing the left square bracket would create a small blue vortex-like effect in the spell queue where the combined element will appear, while a second "fusion queue" appears below the main spell queue. After typing the elements to be combined, simply press the right square bracket. If the fusion queue contains a valid combination ([QS], [QF], or [QR]), the combined element appears in the spell queue, otherwise the elements in the fusion queue are dispelled. Extra sets of square brackets could be inserted to add combinations like [[QF]R] to make wind.

Automatic Element Fusion (Default toggle key "/", default menu key "Backslash")
Manually combining elements all the time would be too clunky, so in order to fix that, commonly used elements like steam and ice would still automatically be created from water+fire or water+cold, which could be toggled on or off by pressing the toggle key, and elements could be added to or removed from the auto-fusion list via a menu. This would allow the use of water+death beams and hot or cold water sprays (Not in the game already but water+fire/water+cold will need an effect) with auto-fusion toggled off and fast steam/ice/poison creation with auto-fusion toggled on.

Some other ideas I came up with while writing this...

Undo Element (Default key "Backspace")
Pressing Backspace to cancel the last element in the queue would save a lot of time and frustration. Currently, the only way to fix element typos is by either casting the spell or nullifying each element after the mistake.

New Elements

Fusion

Adds a brief charge-up time to spells, but increases their damage. Added to the spell queue by closing the fusion queue with the right bracket while it's empty, and added to the fusion queue by an empty set of brackets.

Fission
Rapid-fire energy bolts. Added to the spell or fusion queue by pressing the Undo key when the queue is empty. Because of that, it nullifies itself like Shield.

Inverter
Damage, debuffs, and visual effects mimic the opposite element as whichever is conjured before it, and turns the spell into a charged-up beam. Created by fusing the Fusion and Fission elements, but only after...
...defeating Lok.
Alternatively, Inverter could be an unlockable Magick.

You may already get rid of any element already. With disruptor or casting opposite element. Accidently casting wrong elements is major part of gameplay. You can't just "delete" unused element you have to nullify it.

That would still be possible but a "cancel last element" button would be a slightly faster alternative. The Fission element idea would cause the occasional miscast since pressing backspace one too many times would result in shooting magic missiles instead of sprays or beams or having Life+Fission raining down on your head instead of a channeled heal. Players who prefer nullifying elements the current way would be unaffected.
